Hello, I was recommended the site by a friend of mine who told me this was a veritable wellspring of knowledge on rods and customs and I'm glad I finally checked it out. He was right.

Dirty rock and roll, and rat rods make me happy.

As for what I'm working on, just this past summer I acquired and resurrected a '66 Ford Galaxie 500. With the help of the guys at my club and every bit of time and sweat I can pour into her she's getting closer to driving straighter and faster.

The most useful part of this page is the search. You would be amazed at what you find, because there is such a huge body of knowledge. Usually before asking a question, if you do a search on the question you will find more than you can probably absorb.

    Welcome from a newbie.

After a little guidance, it will all fall in order between "jalopy", "unfinished project" and the "R" word. I did a search back awhile and you can see an evolution in the mindset of folks who join in here. Its cool to watch, and the H.A.M.B is the place for some mighty fine schooling. I love it here!

If you want some good music to work to, try out some early '70's blues/rock, a good lean and mean 3 piece band. Your heart gets into the work, and the work is what gets cars done. Rodding is a social culture, but it is steady evolution in the individual mind in the work that keeps the tradition alive, and that is our bond. Driving a work in progress is no shame, but not having a vision of what you want from it is short sighted. Bloody knuckles, slag burns, and bumping your head for the tenth time on that jagged piece of rusted... But hearing it run, driving it up the road, seeing the other people who have been there, swapping stories sharing your experience and parts, That is the bond, man, woman, black, white, brown, its the ride man. The road these cars were meant to go down.

    Peace.:)

Welcome aboard. Keep you mind open. Don't say "rat" anything unless it's referring to a BB Chevy, and you'll be fine. :D

I should have warned you ahead of time not to mention the R word. A lot of guys take offense to it. I personally could care less what other people want to call shit.

Hah, didn't know the R word was such a dirty word. I'll take that into consideration from here on out. I'll elaborate a bit by saying that I appreciate the work and the experience that goes into having a finished ride, whatever your definition of finished is. I love variety and swapping stories with people that see things from the other end of the field so to speak. I keep an open mind, but personally, I'm partial to a stripped down, dirty, bare bones monster, and equally loud dirty music. It's just a preference is all. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Either way, I'm glad to be here and thanks for the heads up.
