I’m surprising my wife this afternoon bringing her new hotrod home but it’s bittersweet. When my wife was a teenager her mom surprised her dad with this 55 for there 25 wedding anniversary. It was a roller that someone started turning into a gasser. My guess is that they cut the frame at the firewall and put a straight axle under it going by pictures I’ve seen. My father in law Dan bought a 1980 Camaro and ended up stubbing it. And used the rear end also.
Dan told my wife when he was done with it it was her car but she had to pay her sister one dollar. Sad to say Dan passed 2-1/2 years ago and and my mother in law didn’t want to let go of it. This winter she finally said she was ready. I had to put a new fuel pump, some rubber fuel line and a battery on it and she running good and at it’s new home. 068A0B2F-5346-4157-BC5F-CBB9CAAAD04C.jpeg 7C54B8B3-BD81-4CC4-82DE-8684620ED47A.jpeg

That's a good looking 55 with even a better story behind it. Congrats.

  15. Oh boy!! I’ve been out there 15 or 16 times, always early in August, wink, wink, and can just imagine running the 385 in a beautiful 55 like yours! We won’t make it this year, but will be there next year!!

Yes we are pretty lucky living here. I sometimes have to give myself a reality check when I sort of bitch about going on a certain road thru the hills and then I think damn there’s guys and gals that live in the flat land and have to Cruze section line roads.

Really nice looking Bel Air. It looks like the rear quarter panel spears might be swapped side to side. The fat part should be on the top.

Wouldn’t surprise me my father in law also had a kB 2 international pickup and he put the grill in upside down.

Cragar S/S wheels were designed for these cars, they look so right on them.
One more thing I just noticed while re-geeking at the pics. 150/210 script on the front fenders. Cool! Always thought Bel Airs should have it.
