Among other issues I have, I recently acquired a 1953 Mainliner 6 cyl 3 speed in mostly stock condition. It runs great and sorta stops, needs a radiator and fuel tank. I've already seen an amazing amount of technical data for this car in an hour or so of browsing here. Anyways, here it is, my future daily driver.

    Congratulations and welcome.

Best mod for the 223 I-6 is a Ford 300 I-6 distributor. Although you likely have a 215, not 100% sure it’s the same.

My dad had the same car, only a '54 in light blue.

Welcome to the group! You are right in that there is a lot of information to be had here for free if you ask.

And a lot of that information can be found in the "Sticky FAQ" but there is one rule for using it, NEVER ask questions there as it is an information file only, you can post helpful information and links there, but if you have a question ask it here on the regular forum.

Thanks fellas. I definitely have some reading to do. Got the radiator out, got a pile of stuff ordered (new gas tank and cooling system stuff). It's gonna be a bit of a job to get it to daily driver mode, but it's running and stopping, so that's a huge hurdle. I saw a few bare wires in the engine compartment, and one under the sill plate. I'm hoping to replace these with Noble Speed Equipment cloth covered wires to keep it looking halfway "period".
I'll update in the next day or so as I (hopefully) repair the radiator, flush the block and bleed the brakes. Or, like my whole weekend ended up, I might just work on plumbing.
