For those that are subscribers Bill Ganahl has posted some remembrances of Pat on the anniversary of his p***ing one year ago today. If you are not currently a subscriber it can be accessed here-https://patganahl.com/2023/08/20/coda/ Bill is a pretty busy guy but hopefully he will continue writing once in a while.
Yep, got that this evening. Great stories of a fathers impact on a son. Thanks for writing about your dad Bill.
Thanks for This!! For some reason, I didn't get this in my email. I have a Special folder there called RnC (go figure) where all the other Treasures are kept. I grew up reading Pat's gems and feel that I knew him through his writings, things like this tend to stay with you through both thick and thin.
Wow!!! It appears that the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree....... and we should all be very thankful for that.
Well worth making the effort to read it. What do they say, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
It was a good surprise to get an email from Pat (Bill). When Pat was writing that it was a highlight of my day.
I can only say "Thanks" to Bill for his wonderful tribute to his father and to his wife, Sabina, for providing the glue that held this story and all Pat's blogs together. Well done, how very well done.
That is a great tribute! So many of the pictures really show Pat’s love and admiration for little Bill. Very sweet!
I remember reading somewhere a piece that Pat wrote, it was about his son Bill and how proud of him he was. I wish I could remember exactly where I read it. Maybe in Rodder’s Journal or another magazine, maybe somewhere on line. I recall that Pat said he was especially proud of the writing skills Bill had developed, I think a particular paper or college essay was mentioned by Pat. Bill, you are one fortunate guy to have had Pat for a Dad/Mentor. He would be so proud of the man you’ve become and of your excellent writing and automotive skills. Keep up the good work and thanks for the remembrance.
Bill said on his Instagram that this will be the last post on Pat's blog. He did say he will keep Pat's Instagram account running to post more family photos.
Thanks Larry, for posting this. I have had a change in my computer in the last 6 months and the blog message was in my spam folder. I have since made a short post, as I could have gone on and on, about Pat, the family, and picking up the phone to a familiar voice saying "Hey Marty". We were friends since 1986, am I am clearly one of the lucky ones, that got to build him a car.
Pat and I met in 1975… it was a long friendship I will cherish for the rest of my life. He touched us all and it evident with what Bill said what he meant to him. I lost my own father at 19 and there is not a day that goes by I don’t think of him and his influence on me. I’m sure many of us fill the same about a father, uncle, or mentor. I felt honored to be Pats friend and thank Bill for his posting…
It’s not often you see a son pick up a father’s skill on the writing side of the hot rod business. I certainly hope that Bill continues to hone his creative skills and keeps us updated on his progress.
I really enjoyed reading that, hard to believe it’s been a year hasn’t it. After seeing that Bill/Pat has a shoe box I had to look it up, I take it this is it?
