Bought the center bracket for the visor, I think it’s going to work really well.

I have yet another bad idea, and this is your chance to talk me out of it. I think I’m going to metal flake the visor… with spray paint. What do you think? This is just a light hit see if I like it. Personally, I love and this it’s going to look great. I’m torn between silver and royal blue.

If you think that idea is bad, you haven’t heard the worst part yet. I want to do the whole roof. I bought a lace table cloth I’m going to experiment with as well. Any and all advice and comments welcome.

Do the visor in whatever you use on the roof. It will all blend in, go for it!

Not a fan of the doily/lace thing but love flake and candy.

Ok, pardon the OT hood, but it was my practice canvas for my first run at lace paint. For a first attempt, I’m pretty happy with how it came out. Learned a few things too.

I’m going to go with a different pattern for my car. I need something a little busier so more of the blue shows through. Also, I’m going to use magnets to hold the lace in place. A lot of the lace on my test run started peeling away from the tape once the paint hit it.

I debated doing a few panels on the roof, but I think I’ll do one large panel. The visor I’ll split into two panels.

Unfortunately, there’s no talking me out of this. The worst case scenario, it*****s, I have to strip it all off, and I’ll pay someone to metal flake the roof and visor correctly.

Anyway, while I’m here. Went to a local show recently. Local photographer got a few cool shots. Unfortunately I had my OT lights on, so I can’t share most of them.

    Couple of updates.

I have the first half of my visor mounted. too hot, so going to make the lower brackets tomorrow. I used threaded inserts so it can be removed more easily. TRV’d the***** out of them.

Open to opinions, but I’m pretty committed at this point. There’s still some straightening to do, but I’m hot and tired. That’s tomorrow’s problem.

I picked out the lace I’ll use to do the roof and visor as well. I think it’s gonna look pretty good.

And finally… I bought another bad idea. I’ll start a thread for it later. Been needing a truck and found a decent deal on this 60 Apache. Running and driving. I mean, it’s gutless, but it runs. Sorta.

Im here for the ride, I dig the way you work. I love the thought of a custom/bomba styled car.

Got a lot more done! Finished the outside brackets. The visor is very sturdy. That was one of my biggest concerns because I like being able to go 90.

Going to (very impatiently) wait a few days for the paint to cure before I put it on the car. Still need to get a few more clear coats on it. Roof is next!

Welp. Visor is on! Gotta take a break from this heat for a bit, but roof is up next.

Welp. Went all in on the roof. It’s not perfect, but for a rattle can job, I’m happy with it. I couldn’t burry the metal flake enough with the rattle clear, so might have it cleared by a shop depending on the cost.

It’s fun to compare pictures and see the changes that have happened since bringing the Olds home.

I just came back from BTT50's and I have seen more 53 Olds this year than I have ever seen. I always look for them as my dad had one so I always look at them. There were convertibles, 2dr's and a 4 dr, plus one Fiesta, which is a very rare car.
