Now that the 48 panel is finished it's time to start on my next project. This is the one I have been waiting on.
I had been looking for a good Mopar coupe body for awhile now. I found this one on the HAMB about a year ago. I went to Conn. and brought it back to Alabama (man what a trip).
The frame was already updated and complete. Body is in very good shape with almost no rust. So most of the hard work is started.
This one will be built with what parts that I have or can barter out of someone.
I like to get the wheels picked first on a project and build around the look that they give it.
With that said I bought a set of used American saltflats awhile back that I thought would give it the look that I was after. I don't really want an old style look but maybe a slightly updated old look (what ever that means).
I will use all the stock trim and bumpers because they have allready been rechromed and look new. Paint will be an old style color maybe a dark blue, maroon or a green.
So I set the saltflats under it and they did not look like I thought they would. I also have a set of 18" Boss wheels that I set under it and I hate to say it but I like the look better. The saltflats are 17". Yea I know I will get murdered on here for using the bigger wheels but they fillout the fenders better. It will need to be dropped some still. It came with some solid chrome wheels that look ok but will need bigger tires so I don't know about them. I could allways go with a set of steel wheels but I do not have any. May get some later so I can change the look when I want to.
I have a rebuilt Mopar 360 and auto trans ready to go in it .
Anyways give me your thoughts on these wheels and any you are willing to donate to the project.

Not true Bob. I like to keep it picked up. These pics were taken in between projects. This what it looks like when I am working.

Of the three wheels I've seen, the salt flats look the best IMHO, but you need bigger tires on the rear to fill out the wheel well -then again what the hell do I know.

I agree. It needs something along the lines of a 275/60/17 (30 inches tall) to fill those rear fenders.

Salt Flats. Even in a 17 they look right on the car, especially if you lower it.
