I picked up this 53 Mainline a few months ago and now it's time to get it up and going. It has the original 215 OHV and is in fairly good shape and complete. It needs the typical rocker panel replacement and it has a big dent on the trunk lid. The main goal at the moment is to get it running and read worthy. I'm going to do the typical carb rebuild, rebuild the break cylinders, new fuel pump, replace all fluids and get the lights working. Last week I picked up a 6 volt battery, installed it, and put some fuel I the carb, and then the high point, it fired up immediately and idled for about 5 seconds. This was great given the fact that the car had not been started in at least ten years from what I was able to find out. I car caked it a second time and same thing, idling great. Third time........nothing!!!!! I traced the problem and the ignition switch*****ped out. So now I got a replacement, but my question is, how do I remove the old one from the dash? Is the ring a screw on like on? The ring has two notches in it mad I don't want to ruin it by taking a screwdriver to it. I Just as a note, that picture is from when I picked up the car.....I'm not trying to sell it, disregard the for sale sign. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
