Hey Friends. On one of my trips filming content for my YouTube channel Rods and Kustoms with Lars, i got a heads up about this, a 53 Plymouth Belvedere. The price was right so i jumped on it. The story goes that i have gathered some parts for a kustom build long ago that never happened. So i was thinkin the parts could work here. The list goes 53 Kaiser taillights in extended rear fenders, 51 studebaker front fender cut offs,(panoramic Ford style extended) And a chop to match. Could work fine. But then the other brain comes in and shouts Canted Quads!! Anyway, Heres the car..
This should be cool and definitely something off of the beaten path. I’m not a fan of canted quads but your and your vision. I’ll be following along.
The 53 front fenders and grille will require a lot of work to make the canted quads work, but that is why they call them customs, right? I like the idea of a canted quads, it could be a challenge to make them work with the 53 body. Go for it!
I know. One thing is the Plymouth spear that runs from the side and around to the front. But i have a idea on that.
If i do this, theres not going to be much left of the Plymouth in the front. There will be a new grille opening. And a floating grille bar of some sort.
Hardtop, pretty rare car. Whatever your vision, go for it. When I was 15 I pulled the motor out of a 53 hardtop that had the right front fender crunched to put in my 52 more door. Big mistake, I should’ve found a fender and fixed the 53. Another mistake of my misspent youth.
This car had one crushed fender also. But i have found a couple of sets. So i have a set to customize and one orginal if i mess it up.
Is it a Hydrive or a regular 3 speed? Those Hydrives can be very expensive and hard to find parts for. But since this is the H.A.M.B. I assume a power plant transplant is in order. An early Red Ram would be an appropriate choice.
Its got a manual with overdrive. Supposed to be a rare car. Green tint Windows also. I would love to Keep the engine/trans. Do some speed parts. A friend of mine has a 39 Dodge, with the same flat 6. So cool! Dual carbs and dual exhaust. Sounds killer.
