Hi Guy's, I just got a new project today. It was described as a 1930 Coupe, I think its a sports coupe. Its been soda blasted and zinc primed and does'nt have a lot of rust. I traded a non hamb 91 Camaro convertible for it and couldn't be happier. It came with new floor panels and the section I believe for below the deck lid. Someone has cut the top ready for a chop and I'll most likely take a couple of inches out. I've wanted an A since I was 14 back home in the UK and finally have my dream nearly 30 years later. I've been looking on Craiglook and kept finding them too far away. This one was in Houston near Hobby airport just down the road from me. Now the plan.. Mmmmm I'm just sitting and looking at it at the moment. Sugestions would be great as never had a car this old. Here are some pictures for now:-
Looks like a great start there. Not too much rust at all. Whats that thing your extra parts are piled up on?
Maybe I'm crazy and I'm sure you have your own ideas and don't need mine, but I've always thought a sport coupe or an A400 or b400 would be cool as an early Kustom, low all around, padded carson type top, round the back edge of the door around the window considerably, did I mention low? Dark color, white top, wide whites, full hubcaps, smooth bumpers, full hood with custom trim or some trick hood sides... ok I'm done.
To see how Model A Sport Coupes don't make much of a hotrod I recommend you take a look at the old Joe McClelland Sport Coupe. OOPS, gave away a secret, didn't I?
I really like the sport coupe that Clark/So What Speed Shop did: Here's the build thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=237693&highlight=sport+coupe+clark
Thanks for the kind comments guys. I've just put it away in the garage and sorted through the panels that came with it. Have new panel for below trunk, new floor panels, steel running boards and glass front fenders. The original banger motor turns over by hand so may be able to get that running. How easy is it to change the brakes to hydraulic but keep the original banjo rear? Alex
I might keep it if I can get it running. Might be something to play with. I have a 383 stroked chevy on a stand which might be too much engine for it.
