Hooray she's up and rolling, after ages pissing about with the rear spring which was beginning to do my head in. its a 39 rear end with a 34 spring just seemed like forever to get the old bushes out of the perches and eyes of each spring. But happy as a pig in muck

    ignore the crappy tyres

And thanks for all the support guys it has certainly spurred me on :D

  14. Cool!
Does the '34 spring bolt right in (figuratively of course, ha!) to the '39 rear? I know the '34 is curved. Same length though?

To be fair NO and Yes  I had to split the spring pack and put the lower leaf on which ended up flat and then bolt and clamp each leaf as I went along:mad: It was only done for mock up purposes and to make the car mobile just in case i should need to move it anywhere.I think that there is a problem with using that spring and will probably swap it out and use the 39 spring and grind on it a little;)

Hers a little question for you model 40 guys, I squeezed the 34 spring onto a 39 rear and fitted it up into the car, but something aint right i am getting a wheel base of 109.5 ", I'm using a stock front end so that is right, so was thinking that i will stick the 39 spring in (grinding a little) any other ideas?

I'm thinking the spring mount on the 39 rear is longer causing the rear end to move forward. Changing to the 39 spring may be the way to go. This is an asumption since I dont have either rear end or spring

  23. Great work, this car is shaping up quite nicely now.
I remember standing at the Canada/U.S. border looking at a truck I bought thinking "really?" They are always Jewels when we are done with them though !
    Congrats.

I will have to try and find out the dimensions, but that's the way I think I will have to go

Should be 112" wheelbase. Sounds like the curved spring along with the different-length hangars on the '39 rear are "placing" your rear too far forward. Beautiful build! DD

Yep I agree gotta be the length of the axle spring hangers but I haven't got a 34 rear to measure off.
