Kustom41, have you tried The Samba.com, lots of good aircooled stuff? Go with the single port and a '67 carb. If you can't find one I probably have an extra. With the low gearing in a '62 that thing will run very well. Don't go nuts with wide tires.

I think Ryan and I would get along pretty well, NASCAR ****s...How can the silly *******s even call it stock car racing with not a single stock part?

Since it IS a pre 64 and it IS being traditionally hot rodded, I think this is a good thread. Lots of ******s coming out of the closets. I like anything with an internal combustion engine, and ANYTHING can (and will) be hot-rodded. I'd like to one day, pretty far down the list build bug with the split windows, 40 ford nose, steelies and wide whitewalls. Flat black of course.

But then I also want to build a track T with a turbo'd Mazda rotary. This too is way down the list, along with a crew cab 60 Ranchero.

Since you want to keep it reliable you could always jam a 914 motor in it...heehe

As far as staying traditional I tend to follow the bigger is usually better tradition. I think your approach is far more mature than mine...

I saw this in an open wheeled roadster, not exactly a track T but close.

That's pretty cool. with a pair of small 2 barrels with little air cleaners, steelies and whitewallst it would be even cooler tho. I like the body.

The thing that got me thinking about rotaries was a drag car I saw at New England dragway a long time ago. It was a little englich Ford wagon and they had removed the reed valve, had a 600 vac sec Holley on the inlet and a supertrapp on the outlet-hell of an air pump. It idled about 5000, sounded like a prostock bike on the rev limiter, then wound to 17,000 I think he said. they used junkyard motors and replaced them once they were trashed. Ran like a 12.60 I think.
