    update

i havent gotten a whole lot done on the coupe in the last week but i have cut out a patteren for the floor out of plywood so no i have a templete to cut out to put a peice of steel in it to sturdy it up even more. I also finished taking my motor apart from when i spun a cam lobe a month back and the farther i started taking it apart the more clear it became that i needed to send it off and have it hot tanked and have new cam bearigns and a valve job on it and see what they have to say about the crank ..... i didnt really want to or have the spare cash to go rebuilding a motor but it seams like most logical thing to do
tomorrow im goin to rework the k member on the frame and get the drive shaft to clear k member and redoe the shocks and get all the metal work done on the frame and im thinking about repainting it the paints not the best on it from where its been nicked and what not
ill keep an update of the progress with ya all

Congrats on the new project! The chop is wild!

My first 'rod' project was a gl*** 32 3 window. Same reason as you. I wanted a hot rod, preferably 32 ford for me, and there was NO way for me to buy steel..
That car fooled a lot of guy's who were not seasoned on tin early Fords, and i had a hell of a time with it, both building and driving it..i learned a lot..
It made it in a couple mags and a hard cover book called Great American Hot Rods, so just take your time and build it right..you WILL enjoy it regardless of what anyone else thinks, and some will think it's cool no matter what it's made of!!

And keep us posted on progress :D:D

Yeah, it's cool to do that..Just don't go nuts. It is what it is and you will really enjoy it regardless of what they think...
I can't tell you how many guy's came up and knocked on my car over the years....Like some midget was going to open the door and say hello...
Bugged me at first, then i learned it didn't matter..I liked what i had built.

Good luck man..At 19 i think its great you are wanting to build something like this.

thanks tony i have already seen how fast i could over do this whole project so i have just taken a big step back and just goin to stick to some small yet tasteful modifications like adding a cowl vent, winshield frame and louvered decklid..... but at first i wanted to put in a cloth insert and ad the original style hinges but i think i will safe all that for another build or later on down the road

That is how you learn. You are doing the right thing with what you have now. By the time you get to be an old fart like some of us you will have learned enough to build the car you want and forget the naysayers.

well tonight I got the k member in the frame notched and moved my rear shocks in to give it a little bit more of a ride. I will get pics posted of this weekends progress, on the to do list is to get the body on the frame and drill and put the serts in the rails to mount the body and possibly start getting the firewall to paint as i dont plan on it coming back off the frame after i get it set on and now would time while the motors out

I couldn't have said it better myself. Me and two of my best friends built a '32 roadster about 9 years ago that was a gl*** bodied car. Everybody who walked into the shop said it would always be a "nothing" car. It had a gennie deuce frame and ***le,and a worn out 265 sbc. We were three kids with a welder and a dream. And it was a blast to build, ( even got it in Street Rodder Mag. when the motor blew in Chicago, and we put a new one in at the NSRA Nats!). You may have seen that "nothing" car posted here on the HAMB, seems that it's new owner has made a movie, and put the car in it as one of it's lead characters. It's called Deuce Of Spades. Thank you again Faith!

Hot Rodding/ kustomizing originally started with guys/gals fixing up old cars no matter what they were, because they didn't have the money for a new one, or the one they really wanted.

Build that car the way you want with what you have, have fun, and make some memories.

Good looking coupe man! My first build was gl***. I used it as a stepping stone to learn the basics. It may be gl*** but the tire smoke will still smell the same. Enjoy your build!

well finally got some work done on the coupe between college and my other p***ion (bow hunting) i have been busy and not had much of any time to get anything done but im hoping after finals next week i will be able to get back out there and get started hard core on this thing.

i have got the motor put back together after finally finding a set of heads. i ended up finding a set of 305 heads that have been polished and ported with bigger exhaust and valves, but after finding the heads i was able to get the motor back together. i also started some of the body work on the cowl area but not much. been mostly working on getting it to sit right and try to get a good stance and rake with it.

ill post some pics of the coupe and motor and some of my other parts for it.
    thanks

oh i also picked up some white walls and steelies that my buddy gave me so now ill have another set of wheels to through on it

No apologies about fibergl*** necessary, if some of these people can't appreciate the fact that you are 19, and working on a limited budget, then they are unrealistic. Good luck on your build, and have fun with it......oh, and tell all your friends....we need young people like you in our hobby.
