EV maybe some of these guy's are right about gl***, and you were fellin bad about havin a gl*** body.So just throw your wrenches down and PM me directions to pick up that old gl*** rod. Steel or gl*** a 34 3 window rules! And the pic's of your progress are looking awesome. I am also glad to see a young man into this crazy **** that is a great investment and tons of fun! Build it til it breaks then fix it!
thanks guys i love this car and to be honest im more excited about this one than i was when i built my 34 pickup! but than again i fit into the coupe where i didnt with the pickup, still nothin but smiles for me
went and bought my paint today and walked out of the paint store cheaper than i had expected and bought twice as much as i intended to! Got ready to pay and the guy asked if i was a student at OTC, showed him my student id and got a nice discount which made buying the paint that much easier on forking over that much money.... But the game plan is to have the wheel wells painted black sometime monday and get the 2nd coat of blocking primer on the firewall and dash and maybe get the washington blue painted on the firewall come next week...if the weather holds out and is nice
Well finally made a push to be able to get the body back on the frame this week. i painted the wheel wells first and was rather dissapointed, Im not a great painter but i can paint and well to say the least i ran the sob into the floor in the wheel wells. fast foreward to this week and i decided to shoot it again came out ok, have a bit of bit of dirt in it but it will buff out. then i was out working on it today and and got to looking at the firewall and decided to go ahead and get it ready to paint it today. got it all ready to shoot and it went great. laied out like ****er, no dirt, i thought i was going to get by without buffing it but hung a few runs in the last coat of clear so ill buff it out friday on my day off. i am rather pleased with it though, i dont think its too bad for a dirty garage paint job.
well Friday i got the firewall buffed out and got it into shape, burned through in a few places but no big deal cause i will be repainting thoes areas when i paint he body. but today after work finished runing the fuel lines and getting the frame all finished up, so that we could put the body back on tonight. I took the frame to the exhaust shop and had all that done so that it would be out of the way and make it easy to tuck it all up in the frame, it came out awesome. The bodys on the frame and ready to start bolting it down and getting everything to fit for good. Though it feels like i have just completed the car with getting it that far i still know that theres loads of work to be done, but i think its looking good
Thanks for keeping us updated. That's going to be an awesome ride when your finished. When your talking '33/'34 3w it doesn't matter what it's made of I'd roll with either one and with an equal amount of pride. Frank
your doing great work! i nkow it may not matter to the guys you see face to face but you will get a lot more HAMB respect if you go as traditional as possible. ESPECIALLY with a 'gl*** rod. i dig the car and id take a gl*** '33/'34 any day but it means you gotta try your hardest to steer clear of what normally lives in a 'gl*** car, you know? your valve covers are awesome, intake/carb/air cleaner....not so much. avoid the billet if you can and walk the line, great work so far!! also, check this topic out!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464776
Ya, what he said! Well put UnsettledParadox. You will find the right kind of help here. Remember this, If you follow the traditional rules when building your car you will have a less common but more valuable ride. What are the rules? Keep asking question and posting pictures here and we will all help with that part, but in the end it is yours so do as you wish. I for one am glad to have listened to the wise words of wisdom found here on the HAMB.
thanks guys though i value all your opinions and do agree with the whole carb/air cleaner bit being a little to billet its just what i have to use for now, some day down the road that will change. i have got alot done since i last did an update i aboout have all the body work done and should have it in paint by the end of summer. i also added a cowl vent that is functionable (which was no walk in the park) and made the windshield swing out as well heres a few pics
looking good, buddy!!! get that thing on the road and enjoy the hell out of it. your gonna have to get used to your face being sore from smiling so much though haha
oh i already am i smile every time i see it and it might be sad but i had a 34 ford pickup and didnt enjoy it nearly as much as i have this one.....and i got to actually got to drive the pickup...haha
Love the cowl vent and the swingout windshield!! IMO a fixed windshield and no cowl vent on about 99% of the 'gl*** cars is what turns me off. You're doing an amazing job, keep it up!
thanks thats kinda what i thought when i started the build and knew right away i had to add those little touches a roof insert is in the future
