Got the new issue last night, the Westergard Caddy is featured and on the corner cover. Great pis from Darrel Arment as usual. Its got four pages. The article does read like a history article, as the car was a very historic custom built "back in the Day" by Harry Westergard, had been through many hands and was bought to have restored and to fit nicely in one of the worlds greatest custom car collectors stable, Kurt and Amy McCormick from Missouri. It says I painted it, which is cool, but I also did the frame boxing all the body work and painting, and a big majority of the wiring and mechanicals, I also built a ton of solid brass trim for the headliner and had it chromed...built that actually with a broken arm! The body work was very, very major, as modern day fit, finish and quality far outweighs the results back in the 1940's and 1950's. The interior was partially done by Carrie (my Wife) here at the shop, and we brought in Jamie from Jamies Upholstry from Washington state to do the Carson cloth top recreation and had Dave Martinez from Indy, come in the shop to do the awesome tuck n roll interior. The car spent over a year in the shop here, and was a pleasure to work on such a historic project and to work for such great custom owners and collectors. Go get yourself a copy... The mailman delivered it to my neighbor's house in error. Luckily the neighbor's 10 year old girl brought it over to me. Although, it was a bit mangled and torn. I may have to pick up another copy. Loved the Westergard article though.
It is an honor to be featured in R&C, I have had my work in over 200 magazines all over the world, but this is the first car I have worked on with a full feature in R&C, I am really excited to be in the same issue with the Ala Kart and the Barris Merc! Great job at the mag guys! Also thanks for the nice words JimA! Wait till you guys see what I am working on currently....hopefully done gor GNRS....
