I'm posting so I can find this thread more easily.

Like everyone else said the RPU is very well done. The build shows real common sense on your part. Maybe it's done in the editing by you, but it looks like everything is extremely planned out and kept simple, two very hard things to do when you're not just bolting togeather a kit.

Dan your truck is really looking great. My brother and I are still working on the "Four on the Floor" memorial. ;) I was curious after viewing your pics what that column is that you are using? What kind of bearing/support are using on the bottom end?

Don't worry, no more major re-do's on this one, I'm getting too old for that :p

Thanks man. Not that it always works out, but I am trying to think thinks out a little before I tackle each part. When I don't, I either make things harder than they need to be, or think of a much better way to do it as I am finishing hehe.

I know there is always a better way to do things, I am just trying to do things to the best of my abilities, as well as serviceable down the road(I hope!!)

    Thanks!

How is the fordor coming along? I've been following your progress, and it is really coming along nice!

I am not running any column, only a polished stainless shaft(3/4") from Flaming River. Foot room is tight, so I really wanted to stick with the 3/4" shaft only, instead of a 1 3/4" column. Not a huge difference, but every little bit helps. In the pics it is just a mock up piece of tubing to keep from beating up the real one

Plus I really like a mechanic, basic "only what you need to have" look to things, kind of bare bones, but I like that. For a lower support I used a firewall flange mount 3/4" bearing, and it swivels/pivots(kind of like a heim)to allow for the angle of the steering shaft. You can get these from Speedway, or Flaming River, Borgeson, etc.

For the upper support I used a 3/4 stainless heim style support. It allows adjustment of the height of the shaft at the dash, and is simple to mount. Hope this helps a little, now go work on the fordor:D

Here's a pic of the firewall support bearing-it's simple enough:
