I still observe the pre '49 rule (schitt, another one). So if it's anything prior to '48 and no mention of make is offered, than it's a FORD.
Sadly that's one rule I hated to see changed. I purposely bought a `1948 Chevy panel truck rather than a better 50-- Chevy panel that is! But I also understand that new rule. More people fixin newer cars and less old farts active with pre 49's. And git it straight Jeem, 1948 AND older. Reference the 37 motersycke above. Who'da thunk. We're not phsycics or mind readers. Many of us barely have a working brain. So give us a break and tell us what that 40 is....... Okay, most are Fords when it comes to rods. But there were a few other brands made in 1940! Honestly, if ya want to know about your car or want to tell us about it, it would be nice ta know WTF you are talkin about. I'm still thinkin about the question the guy was askin about how tall the stock seat should be on his 40! We need rules!

I'm with Bob from CT. I'm going for a ride in my 54 to think about it somemore. You know it's a Chevy cause nobody talks about 54 Fords. Did any survive? frank
Mine sure didn't. Shaved the doors, hood, and trunk. Cut the rear bumper and made a roll pan, added skirts and painted the car dark blue. Heated front springs and added rear lowering blocks. Drove the hell out of it till the engine made strange sounds and oil gauge stopped moving. Yep that was a 54 Ford so I know they made a couple of them. Learned to drive grandpa's 54 Chevy. Seems like they made Plymouths or something too back then.
Awe rule this ! ! Whiner until further notice: Hamber jeem has proposed a new rule that shall be enforced by himself. The rule is that you must state they year make and model of you car. Jeem will be handing down penalties for infractions of his rule. There you go, you have been empowered so GO GET 'EM. At least that should keep you busy enough you won't have time to start lame *** threads. Go on now get busy. I'm going to take the Shovel head out for a spin or maybe I'll take the Deuce, or the bagger .
And a Deuce is a '32 Ford, never a Chevy, Plymouth or Nova. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad[/QUOTE] Agreed 100%.......had a guy tell me about his Deuce the other day, however it was a '32 chevy not a deuce!!
I sold my Panhead. Is that the same as a Shovelhead? And why ain't a 32 Chevy a duece if a 32 Ford is ? What's a 63 1/2? I've heard people call 55-57 Chevys shoeboxes too. Jeem better get out and start spankin some ***es and grounding members. "Bagger?" Reminds me of a couple of bike events there was this gal did a comedy act. Called herself the "bag lady."
I saw a mfg in an ad in one of the car mags call them a shoebox also, I though WTf ??? A shoebox is a 49 - 51 ford. a 55 - 57 Chev is a tri-five. ***hat mfg.
Fart noise is often better than no sound at all. Besides that, it is a warning of a smell to come. Just remember to tell the year, make and model of your car when posting then we won't have all this fartin around. Posted on 2009Dell tower and keyboard.
Standard or deluxe ? Wet or dry? How many octaves? Usually 4 octaves, 12 seconds long, wet but no lumps. Deluxe
I didn't know that never wasn't a rule?! How about the next newby that refers to a Model "A" coupe as a "five window" gets a swift kick in the *** as I did at twelve after I had been told... Tough love from my mentor group!
Funny as hell, cause when someone says '37, the first image in my head is a '37 ford, followed closely by "oh maybe he means a '37 Chevy..." then that image. All these years back and forth I saw a '37 Chev in connection with your name!
I was entertained. I support the amendment. I would also support an amendment that states anything 1949 and newer be hereby referred to as "late models". The "late models" category may be broken down into their various descriptive subsets, but will still be considered "late models" by guys like me.
What the Hell??? This is just one crazy *** thread... still I'm diggin it and it brings to mind with me how I take for granted the nicknames that we have given certain makes and models. Its sort of american slang and I find it pretty cool! I know when you say '23, its a T. When you say '32, I think Deuce. Some other Fords fall into sub groups like A or Vicky. When you say '55, '56, '57 or Tri- Fives, I know you are talking about Chevys. Other makes and models just seem more easily described as T-birds or cars with shortenend or altered names like Stude, Olds and Poncho. They might fall into types like roadsters, utes or sleds or maybe sub-phylums like mopar Through all of it , I feel like I know what the hell we are talking about... still I find all of this slang fun. As for more rules in my life, I'd rather be a renegade I think I'll go for a cruise now in my '47! ... Willys that is
