T37 as in Bugatti Type 37 GP car is what comes to mind first when I see 37, the motorcycle aside. Funny how the Bugatti people talk about Types and don't mention the year the car was built. They were fun to work on, forgot to buy a Lotto ticket tonight, so my chances of owning one gets put off till next week. Bob
lotsa fun, but here's another suggestion for a rule that is not so tongue-in-cheek. How about double the effort in typing a year? Yeah, it's really hard to add that 19 before the 32, and we all call 'em 32s, but the search engine here doesn't like 2-digit stuff... sure would be easier to find all that Deuce stuff that way...
In addition to the "five window" model A coupe *****..... I especially love it when I hear "two door" coupe.
Worked on my '47 yesterday. Oh...Hudson. Ummm...coupe. Uhhhh...it's maroon...mostly. Worked on my buddy's '63 today. Oh...John Deere. Ummmm...3010. Uhhhh...gas. Ahhhh...it's green...mostly.
Shoebox. I'd like to know the origin of this one, because when I bought my nice straight '50 Ford Coupe, my Mom said, "Where the hell did you get the 'crackerbox'?" She said when they changed the body style in '49, she and all her gearhead friends hated the square lines. "Crackerbox" was the term, not "Shoebox''. The region was San Jose, CA. First time I heard '49-'51 Fords called 'Shoeboxes' was in '76, at the Lodi, CA run.
no wonder everyone is upset, no one can count windows these fancy chicken houses you speak of have 4 or 6 windows total, or don't you count one if it's rolled down or missing
One of my favorites is when a guy with a 383 Chevy small block HAS to say "STROKER" every time he mentions the engine. Another one was a lunkhead that I worked with who used to tell everyone that the stock 460 in his Econoline van was "ported and relieved" from the factory. Every time he mentioned that, I wanted to kick him squarely in the nuts. Also, the 460 was always referred to as the "Big 460". "Yeah, I've got a '87 Econoline van with the Big 460 that was ported and relieved from the factory". I used to hear that about 3 times a day, and my right foot used to start tingling every time I heard it.......
Yep! It's all his fault! Actually it's the guy askin about how high the bottom seat should be in his 40. But I'm sure after all this debate everyone will include the type, year, model, and other important stuff of their cars in their next thread. Yea right !. We need more rules! I'm going out to wax my Henway again. The two window coupe with three doors. And what's all this about --sent via Dinkleburrydialup--- ****?
I was reading a thread about copper and black request and a guy made me think of this thread. He said there was a 2 door duece
You guys must have a hell of a time at the store with all those choices. I have to go buy some "bread"- but what does that mean?
"Model A 5 window'' ... translation: I don't know much about old cars, but signed up for the HAMB anyways.
The more I read here the confuseder I become ! I use bread to buy stuff, including bread ! And I could write a book about all the types of bread I buy with my bread! Not to mention getting bred ! Then there's that "store" Thing. Hardware store, jewelry store, auto parts store..... ????? We need rules ! Seriously, as we get older, we notice all of the slang terms we've used in the past have different meanings to others, especially "non-car" guys. And it's the same for anyone trying to communicate now days. I have no idea what some of these teens are saying. Wuzzz up man?
