Agreed... I was thinking about this last night and about the guy who posted on here that bought one of the 98's for his completely stock vehicle because he does want to drive it so bad and the rest of us for the most part are no different. My dad says the same thing with all the stuff going on now-a-days in everyday life that when he sits in an old car or drives one that it just puts him at ease and I am the same when I take mine out. As far as the center squirter carbs I thinks its just a case that it is so expensive to bring a new casting to market vs the actual call for them that there is the chance we might not be able to recover the tooling costs on it alone. I do get questioned about them but it is very rarely.
What if I beg? Think about allll those guys running 2 4's. The ONLY option is ****ty *** Edelbrocks. there are just no Holley Center squirters left...last set I saw for sale looked like they had spent the last 10 Years soaking in a vat of salt water, and they still wanted 600 for the pair! think about this...how economically viable were the 98's until You asked around to see if anyone wanted them?
Yeah I can imagine 6 of those on top of the 6 Deuce ... definitely would! Just spoke with Barry and he is back from Columbus and said he saw a lot of the forum members walking about. Also mentioned there was a pretty decent diversity of cars and styles present. I was looking at some of the pictures you guys posted over the weekend from the show and could tell the same.
Here's a pic Barry took over the weekend . Mike from H&H had a flathead there at the show with our 98's one it that they were starting up and running from time to time.
read through the whole thread and didnt see - any chance a SB MOPAR manifold option for any of these in the near future? thanks
No doubt! Ask Barry about the SCOT tops. That pic is from Charlie Price's Vintage Speed. If'n you're interested, I could hook you up with the foundry he uses - they may be cheaper than the one(s) you're dealing with, if only for smaller stuff. ~Jason
I just had a good question in a pm in regards to these and thought I would share the answer here as well incase any of you guys are wondering. The member was asking about vacuum ports for his trans and stuff. The 98's do not have any vacuum ports on them but the intakes have both a small and large hole tapped and plugged on the backside so that you can remove them and install fittings as needed to have constant vacuum sources.
My good friend Bob Tindale just purchased 2 of these BG's for his 241 hemi.... he is running a 2x2 setup in his deuce, After a year of complete frustration of running older carbs.... the new BG's run Flawless. He is a happy man.
Yeah cool stuff but just hang on to your wallet. One of those set ups cost more then what most guys here pay for an engine. ($2400.00) I know I have a B/G six shooter for my Nomad. I got it on a close out deal or it wouldn't be sitting on a shelf in my garage. If you like the Tri-power there is only one guy Dennis from O'Brien Truckers is the only guy who makes air cleaners for them, you wanna see nice stuff go to his web site and check it out. He also gives a HAMB alliance member a 10% discount. The "stock" air cleaner is a big oval piece of ugly billet (__________) you fill in the blank. Might look good on your Camaro or late model El Camino but not on any real car. I haven't run my set up yet but I have met two guys at local cruise nights who have them and loved them. He seems like he puts a lot of R&D into his products which is a refreshing change.
what rpm are those intake good up until? 6500? 7500? i wouldnt mind trying that dual 4's model on my 301 sbc its a high winder thats why im askin. my current carb is a pile and i am sick of it. have been saving for a demon for quite a while but these really caught my eye might have to save up longer haha.
They are good up to around 6500. We may look at doing something later down the road for a higher rpm range but want to get the small block Ford and big block Chevy stuff out to everyone first.
Any plans for a multi-carb or badman setup for the big block ford (429/460)? Also will you guys be selling the badman carb w/o the intake? Thanks
No plans for 429/460 and although it's too early to tell on carbs only it has been discussed and at some point after the systems have been released it may be an option.
Another option for you as well may be the Econocomp set up. You still have the cool looks but can pick the carburetor size to match up with the engine. At that point you get the best of both worlds without breaking the bank as you still get the Demon carburetor plus a cool new intake and then later if you want to change the top our for a different package you can.
Here's some "spy" type mock up shots for you guys on the intake development for the big block Chevy as we are getting close to running it on the dyno. This is the prototype hand built intake for the dyno mule. These have never been posted anywhere yet so you all get to see them first!
Just wanted to let you guys know that here is another opportunity for you to see all the new induction madness stuff in person this weekend at Louisville . Barry and some of our guys will have all of the small block set-ups on display at the show. Barry will be there on Friday and possibly Saturday but we will have guys there all weekend as well. Doesn't cost anything to just stop by the display and get any questions answered that you might have.
Thanks for the compliments on them. These have started shipping out this week to our dealers so they are now available through them. As mentioned earlier we also have them on display this weekend at Louisville if you want to stop by and see one in person.
