about a year ago we built this roadster for a good customer of mine. me and him decided a few months ago his roadster needed some things to wake it up a bit. new wheels and tires, and a grill color change fit the bill.

    i think it worked.

i like the old ones better, although not crazy about the color. definitely don't like the green grille.

Looks great, Danny! What brand are the wheels? Excelsior tires?

  9. ....I'm with chaddilac, It looks great both ways, and I like the idea of changing things up every now and then, but, I kinda liked it better with the green steelies and grille. It just needed a thin green pinstripe running down the bodyline.:)

Much better, all it needs now is a straight spreader bar.

I really like the new look. It's a bit like the 32 that I bought last summer. I'm actually considering going to a set of red gennies but lots of guys think I'm crazy.

the wheels are reproduction Halibrand roadster wheels, made by vintage eng. http://www.vintageeng.com/

the sizes are 16x6 and 18x7 with 500-16 and 700-18 excelisor radials.

the cost of these wheels are not for the faint of heart, along with the specialized labor that it takes to make it all work together.

    thanks for the comments.

Oooooh, I'm a sucker for a lovely black 32 highboy.
If this is the start of a new thread dedicated to pics of highboys, then I guess I'm just going to have to subscribe.

Oh yeah, BTW, it looks better now - nothing wrong with painted wheels or even matching grilles, but apple green....?!?!?!?!?!?!

I've ran a set of the lower dollar So-Cal 5 pin knockoffs on my last deuce roadster (Hop Up #10) About a 3000.00 dollar deal plus the Excelisors. They are designed for a 5 bolt hub and are easy to install. I really like the look of the gold tint wheels on your customers car.

better. keep the wheels and paint them black to match the body. then switch them occasionally. is that spelled correctly?

Love the new look...I've never been a fan of green wheels. I think they look kinda
    "streetrodderish" or stock model A.

I totally agree. I think the steelies in black would also work

  28. After I posted it it occurred to me that I was probably shy a couple/three thousand since each wheel was more than the 4 tires. Doesn't matter...they still look dandy.

Those wheels are the BEST! Is that the dow 7 finish, or alodine?

    Wow.

    That change is perfect.

I don't like to look at hot rod things as an investment - but the cost do the wheels alone will return more than their cost I'd he ever decides to move the car. More important than that, the car is going to be even more pleasurable to cruise.
