I hear where you are coming from, but I drove my 34 coupe with a 39 box for years - never started it in gear. There is no reasonable way to put a neutral safety switch on a 39 box -- so you have to have a clue when you start the car. My 65 Vette didn't have a neutral switch - never started it in gear either. With that said, I'm going to be damn sure I wire a neutral switch on my new 34 build - but it has a Tremec TKO with a nice switch ready to go. In the end, you can't be too safe . . . but you can't Stop Stupid!
Yeah, but as the dad of a 3 year old this sorta stuff scares me. Those little dudes arent invincible, we did 4 weeks in a cast once already.
I had an off-topic Mustang shift itself from Park to Reverse while I had it idling in a car wash stall. It drug me all the way out while I was trying to hold it back as my shoes slid through the suds. It was only going about 1mph when it crawled up a chain link fence and stopped. It was scary. We all do dumb stuff sometimes. I'm not going to beat the guy over the head even though it was a dangerous, dumb situation. I ***ume he is learning his lesson the hard way (pocketbook) and is glad that it didn't turn out worse. Sorry to hear about your Deuce, Randy. But on the bright side, it just made the value of gennie '32 parts go up just a little bit more.
seen it happen at a local cruise night. guy started his car and off it went acrcoss the isle and pushed a 32 on its side. it climbed right onto the 32. 2 wreckers had to lift the first car and then roll the 32 back onto its wheels. driver of the offending car claims his throttle stuck wide open. my question that never got answered was, why was your throttle wide open in a parking lot full of cars and people? I'm glad to here the other guy that hit your car has insurance and hopefully they will work with you and not against you.
