And a lifetime in the car biz/industry in several venues from restoration to OEM production to prototype to dealer and a multitude of things in between. So that said, try to build one here on your own dime. A lowly Model A would be an additional 25-30% more if you were very VERY lucky and cut corners somewhere. I have several manufacturing friends and clients. They too have to source things overseas for a couple different reasons. The 2 biggest are cost and availability. By availability, it amazes me how many local or domestic suppliers TURN DOWN production jobs.

In Michigan, a couple different "import" bodies and products are assembled in Chesterfield Twp. Can't say this one is but suppose we were to boycott all the import bodies and put those folks out of work too. Would that suit us better?

I'll say it again, hell in bold, so fuckin what. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

  4. Although the parts are stamped off shore the body's are assembled here in the States,,this is a American owned company.

Seems I remember The Ford Motor Company building 1932 Fords over seas so whats the big deal,,If I wanted one I would buy one. HRP

Been following the progress of this project from the beginning. Overall they are very nice. As a very picky buyer I can see a few issues that would need to be addressed but nothing that couldn't be handled by my body man. If I was in a position to buy, I probably would.

Hey!! There is alot of passion about Made in America! It is a an American Company making this body,It would be nice if the stamping was done here! That goes for any company,s origin! We have people on this board from all over the world and I,m sure they would like it if a company from their homeland would keep production at home! It is not just the plant producing the panels, what about the local support where the plant is located,(machine shops, restaurants, constructions companies,taxes-a necessary evil, and so on) many jobs beside the making of the bodies! Yes they would cost more but the return would be a plus!! If you ever lost your job to a overseas venture you have a different perceptive and passion about this! Pete

Yeah, (Cash for Clunkers) recycled '32 Fords I'm guessing.

But what about supply and demand? If new, flawless steel bodies are
market available won't that lessen the price of a gennie?

When my late wife asked if we were going to spend as much on her Lincoln town Car as I just spent on my '55 Bel Air Sport Coupe, I told her "No". "Why not?" she asked "Because this '55 Chevrolet is worth more today than the day I bought it - your Lincoln is worth less as soon as we drive it away". Don't see how U can lose at 20K for that great body I saw at the LA Roadster Show. Kudos to UP.

The thing that shocks me is I had been betting on it I would have thought a new steel 41 Willys would have beat a 5 window to market because of the mere existence of the new steel roadster and three windows.

As a capitalist pig I wish them luck, and in the short run they are going to be hot but I really wonder if the long term demand is there on this one.

Are the new steel 3 windows still hot?

Like what? If there are improvements to be made we can make them. The idea was to get as close to perfect as we could so I would be interested in hearing your feedback.

I think it looks great. People need to take notice how this is being marketed and accept it for what it is. A new 5 window coupe body for building a hot rod. No where do I read the words "replacement" or "Ford".

I will ask the OP, are/where there any plans to involve Ford Motor Company in this project?

Actually I'd bet that the most vocal bitch and whiners don't have and never have had a real 32 five window or any other real 32 they just like to bitch and whine.

I'd like to see them sell enough bodies to be able to stay in business to be able to sell body parts to the guy who do have a real five window body that they are trying to put back together. This is will no doubt save a hell of a lot more mostly genuine Ford bodies than they sell complete repro bodies. The price isn't going to drop on the real ones no more than it did on real roadster bodies when Brookville brought out theirs but for the guys who are looking at mega dollars at a rusted cut up body and then mega mega dollars to repair it to the level that they can build a decent hot rod out of it it may make it doable.
And face it, you have to be a damned careful shopper to be able to live a life where you never buy, eat or use one item made overseas including the laptop or desktop or phone you are sitting there bitching and whining with. That includes the skivvies you have on and those "cool tennies" you have on your feet. That Pendleton shirt you parade around isn't even sewn in this country anymore.

I'm waiting for someone to make a steel 32 2 door sedan body. I bet Bobby could build one out of the 5 window

I heard brookeville was thinking about a 32 Tudor. Mr 48 chev, I bitch and whine constantly. I've had two original deuce five windows. I've been beating the crap out of my Tudor for a while now. Unlike some of the people who've posted here. I can afford one. But I will not be buying one. If I ever want another five window. I'll buy a glass US made body, or an original. I don't shop at Wal-Mart, and try to buy us made products when I have a choice. Don't get me wrong. I'm not hating. I saw some of the first parts. They're dead nuts! Hats off to UP for doing it right. None the less. I can't buy one. I'd rather support our economy.

No. Won't hurt real hot rods prices. Because the question always comes up..... "is it real"?
You are comparing apples to grapes. Not the same thing.
The more kit cars there are of something, it can make 32 Fords even more valuable and desirable.

Not knocking these or anything anyone else has.
And the work Walden Speed shop has done on them is awesome.

the top of the passenger side "a" pillar where the guttering starts was a bit rough as I ran my hands over it at lars.

Here is my .02 .... Who cares if it china or American.... Ill never find a real Henry 5 window 32...let alone be able to afford one. Some guys are right when they say its about history, however when I roll through town in a brand new flat black repo 32 5 window, and the 75 year old man at the fire station is giving me the thumbs up,,,,, that's all that matters to me. No one know its reproduction other than me.. And when some dick face pulls out in front of me and an accident occurs , I can replace it! Instead of being sick for ten years about my totaled 1 year only made hotrod. I say there a wonderful addition to the hot rod world. Fantastic work! And I hope business booms for you guys selling these bodies. They sure have my attention!

I remember you from previous posts. Maybe you were drunk. Belonged to some debating society....on and on. You never saw me in Walmart, although I did buy an American made battery ther once. For my American made Hot Rod.

If you look at the one Brizio did for Edelbrock you can see how they cut the top off at the belt line and reshaped it to make it right. The one I saw at the LARS seemed to be correct but I couldn't tell for sure. You can probably add another $10K for the chop at a good shop.

Vic's is killer... My .02 cents. I hope UP does well with the famous model Deuce. I am saving my money.
