New Stewart Warners on 6 Volt system?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, Apr 20, 2012.

  1. Hey, I have a customer who is looking to use the new stewart warner wing gauges in his 26 Roadster which is staying 6 volt positive ground. For the oil, temp and speedo we can just go mechanical, but what about the fuel gauge? Stewart Warner lists a Volt gauge, but I can't find anything on an amp gauge?
    Any Suggestions?

Unfortunately they don't make Amp gauges anymore. You could buy an old one and have someone like Bruce Abbott in Portland modify it to match the other gauges.

Speedway still lists several SW deluxe ammeters, they don't care if its 6v or 12v.

If you can't find a decent 6v fuel gauge, maybe try one of step-ups they used on old VW bugs to get 12 volt for a stereo.
