Could use some input here guys. We have a fenton 3-2 intake going on a fresh 327. Getting ready to purchase some new chrome 97s. Trying to decide whether to run a cable choke on the primary or not. Ive already got some heater hoses to deal with. It'll definitely be a little cleaner in there without the extra cable. Thoughts?

Heres the car... this is not the intake or carbs, just mock up stuff.

I bought the new Strombergs with the choke on the primary and will run the manual cable.
According to Uncle Max you will need that one choke, the tri power equipped engines can be hard to start without it.

Thanks! @Blue One , Do you happen to have a picture you could post of how it looks with the choke?

I use a stock-style rod to operate the middle 97 choke on my flathead.

Sorry, I have not ***embled it all yet, but I think it will look fine in my hoodless RPU as I had the choke brackets nicely chromed as well when I ordered my carbs.

Where im at its not much of an issue because its not that cold. But what I do need the choke for on my wore out 327 is the fast idle. Otherwise it just wants to stall or idle down until it stalls.

I had a flatty powered T PU. I used a welding wire as a choke rod. Remember, the choke also runs the fast idle cam. If you drive in the spring or fall, you will need a little extra to keep a good flatty running for the first four blocks.

I have three '97's on my Y-block. I don't have a rod or cable to my primary. It can be a tad cold blooded to start, but nothing too bad. You can always try it without and add one later if you find it is needed.
