Hey everyone, I'm located in San Antonio, Texas and I was referred to the forum by someone I met at a local Autozone by random chance. I have a 1958 F100 and a 1965 Fairlane 500. The F100 has a 292 with a manual four speed transmission. Armstrong steering and manual brakes, but I already have the CPP power steering and power brake kits just need to have them installed. The Fairlane is a 289 with an automatic transmission. I've had a hard time finding shops that will do quality work so I'm hoping to get good leads and advice on here.
Hey there Wiked. I don't know any mechanics in San Antonio but I know a great body and paint man. If you need help with that give me a holler and I'll put you in touch with him. He's over off of old perrin bietel
Thanks, I actually found a paint guy that will be looking at the fairlane soon. It's at a shop now getting the crankshaft seal, rear main seal and oil pan gasket changed out. It took a while but this mechanic seems trust worthy, I dropped it off today. Last Saturday I had Spitfire by downtown rewire the brake lights on my F100 to get rid of a short that came up after we installed an after market turn signal kit and they recommended him for older cars. After two months of finding shady places or being turned away from others I think I have found a mechanic, paint shop, glass place and electrician. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do about my gauges in my F100, the only replacements I have found are on code510 and Dakota digital but they are pricey. I might also be looking for a custom shop or a hot rod shop for the CPP kits if this mechanic doesn't want to do that type of work. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks everyone, this place seems great. I'm taking advantage of other people's experiences and reading through some threads to try and get a handle on these vehicles. I've never restored a car or even owned a carbureted vehicle before. I love them though, I can't believe how many offers I've had on both of them. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
