Hey all. Here in NJ and just scored a '47 COE, just the cab, and will get some pix up later. Right now I'm figuring out which frame to put it on. Choices are '64 f350 w/duelly rear or '78 f250 crewcab 4wd(158" wheelbase). What I need to know is the optimum front axle track width (center to center of tire). Any other useful info is also gladly accepted. Oh yeah, I forgot. Hi, my name is Ed and I'm a oldrideaholic!!
Welcome to the group Ed. On your ch***is I have found if you ask opinions of 10 people you will get 10 different opinions. Do what you want to do.
Welcome ed- your frame choice would depend on the purpose. the first c.o.e. i did i used a frame from a early 70's one ton cl*** a motorhome(4 mount holes lined up. the one i'm doing now is on a 72 chev 1/2 ton for a good ride. i've got the windshield frames you seek if we can find a fesible way of getting them to you. greg
Thanks for the welcome, guys. Got in deep yesterday and maneuvered a '64 ford dually frame under the cab. Looks fine!! Greg, I sent you an email about the frames. Let me know if you got it and how we can do this. Thanx, Ed
Hi Folks, I'm new but I'm not... I joind the HAMB about two years ago but I have visited very little and posted even less. I just have so many irons in the fire I don't get around to everything that often. When doing some searches on COEs I stumbled onto a link to the HAMB where I did a few posts but I was not fully aware of how to get into this group. Stupid brain... Now that I have all that figured out I hope to get some good advice and maybe even find a COE cab. I have a '93 E-350 diesel van that I have owned since it was new. It runs great with256K on it but the body is starting to get some rust out in a few places which is not bad considering it's age. However, I don't want to fix it and I'd much rather put that kind of effort into putting a COE cab on the rolling ch***is. My preferences run toward a '53 to '55 vintage Ford COE as it would be a close match to my two '53 F-100 projects I have going. The first step in this project is going to be finding a decent COE cab. I will buy a whole truck if I have to but I'd really prefer to buy just a cab. I would probably s**** out the ch***is if I had to buy a whole truck or maybe sell it for parts to someone who needed it. I don't need a ***le but I would take it and transfer it if there was one. I live in SE Ohio and occasionaly travel to the Atlanta, GA area so anything between or around these areas would be a good place to locate something. I have one question, is it something I'm doing wrong or do the signature files just not display in special groups like this one for COEs? So far I have not seen it get displayed. I have a little web page up with links to the stuff I'm into and projects I'm doing if anyone is interested. The link is www.DaveBoley.info and I have an ongoing build thread at http://darksidersrealm.forumotion.com/t204-first-53-build-thread This might give you an idea what I'm doing. I am glad I finally figured out how to get on this special COE group and I hope to spend more time here. I am thinking it might be a lot of help now and down the road on this project if I can find a cab. Later Folks... Dave
Dave Boley, Looks like you have some cool stuff going on.. Welcome to the group. I am in NE Ohio I have a fetish for Coes but I do not have any in the year your looking for, I will keep my eyes open for one. fabmancoe
