New to H.A.M.B. and i have a series of questions

One of my cars is a 1964 Falcon Sprint; 260 with a 4 speed convertible. Not knowledgeable on Fords, but i know my engine and trans is not compatible to swap for 289 UNLESS i also change the transmission. Something about a 5 bolt bell??? I am on a limited budget as well. I also have found that the 1st Cobras had a 260. and i also know Ford offered a Cobra option after market for the Falcon. My engine is the original, where and how do i find new heads and other parts to rebuild the 260? not looking for a racer, just a reliable driver, but on-line searches always end up with 289/302 parts but they are supposedly not "bolt-on" without modification. my GM experience is use any motor with any transmission pretty much any year.
