Been reading regularly for awhile, but just joined. My father has always been a car guy and still has all 3 of his from the mid/late 60s, albeit not running or driving and have been unfortunately tarped for all my 31 years on this planet. Shameful. Grew up hearing about and walking past his '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible (mildly hot rodded by him in the mid '60s), '57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door sedan bought as a parts car in the '80s, and a '65 Pontiac Tempest convertible. on a daily basis. Anyway, finally have a house where I can keep a couple of my own. I inherited a '63 Chevy Bel Air 4 door sedan, all original, from my grandmother this past winter. It has been running and driving great until a week or two ago...but thats another post. Been on a truck hunt for quite awhile and finally just bought a '53 Chevy 3100 long bed, running, already converted to 12 volt. Hoping to bring it home later this week. I'm psyched! It was built at the Baltimore plant which is cool for me being a native Marylander. I was told it had been a farm truck on the eastern shore so perhaps it has spent its whole life in Maryland. Who knows. So that's what I'm working with so far. Seems like a lot of good folks here. Looking forward to learning more!
Welcome aboard! And don't give up hope. You may someday untarp those treasures to put them on the road once more. Hopefully to give your Dad a ride in them again............
