Welcome from SoCal. My grandfather's favorite car was his '41 Willys Coupe he bought new. He had a story about going to the local Willys dealer for some tune-up parts during WWII. While standing at the parts counter, a man came over and asked him if the '41 out front was his. He said "Yes." So the the man said "I'm the sales manager. I'll trade you that brand new '42 there plus $100 cash for your '41." Grampa turned it down.The dealer was under wartime price restriction on the brand new car, but used cars were fair game. The dealer could get a lot more money for the clean used car than for the new car. But grampa liked his '41 better.
Too funny , if we only had a time machine . My grampa was a mechanic in WWII and told me they were throw away cars lol look at em now , if Mr Willys could only see em now ! And 42 Coupes are the Shizit ! My buddy has one returning it its glory days as a West Coast Gasser ! Mine's a 40 Coupe with no history other than everyone and their dog has tried buying it for the last 30 yrs lol
