Long time lurker - first time poster. Thought I'd introduce myself and give a quick background on why I'm going from lurker to someone who contributes. First off the intro - I hail from the Seattle area and like many of you for a long time I've been into cars. I currently have a modest collection of British cars including a Land Rover Defender that is my daily driver. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I guess I'm drawn to the quirkiness of the British cars. But the British cars are not why I joined this particular board. Why I'm here is that several years ago I purchased a 1952 Muntz Jet out of a barn in Mississippi. I bought it sight unseen and once I got it back to Seattle I started realizing what I had got myself into. To say it was in disrepair would be an understatement. The past couple years I've been buying parts, doing some restoration type work, and working through the trials and tribulations of being a person building a car who has never done it before. At this stage the car is far from done, but I've decided that it would be worthwhile to capture some of the work I've been doing both for my own edification and for others to learn from, and comment on what's worked and what hasn't. I hope to start putting together some form of a build thread soon which will try to capture where I'm at up to present day. Thanks everyone! Here's a picture of the car in question. Many more pictures to come as I get the build thread going. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. I'm just over the cascades from you in the middle of the state. What's the plan for the Muntz? Engine? Will you restore the car or modify it Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Welcome ! I to have a few British rigs , two NAS 90s and a 110 EX-Mod. My real passion is my Hotrod's. cool car . Sent from the frozen North
Thanks! When I got the car I discovered that it was significantly modified from stock. The previous owner had welded in a front clip and rear out of a G-body car - I'm thinking mid 80's Buick Regal. This made it very difficult to go back to a stock configuration, but allows me to buy aftermarket parts. My goal going forward is to make it look close to original on the inside and outside, but have it be more or less new underneath. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Good to know another D90 owner. I might be hitting you up for info when I can't figure something out. Right now mine is in a state of refurb. The rear seats, carpeting, and headliner is all torn out of mine. I was chasing a water leak with the alpine windows that got out of control. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Close! I'm actually going to try to shoe horn a Viper motor in there. Just ordered it the other day so it's on a truck somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Welcome to the HAMB. I'll help you get some answers to the many questions you're bound to have. I've owned (and currently own), and built a few Jets.
Thanks a lot. I've seen pictures of your Jet throughout the years and it looks awesome. I admit that I've drawn some inspiration from it. I'm going to be posting a build thread on here in a bit. Any tips you have would be much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
