Hi i am new here. I need help with my 1951 mercury. I don't know how to build it. It's a rusty shell on a rusty frame with hardly any floor....I need some one to show me or tell me how i can replace the floor and rocker panels. I actually would like to make the rocker panels and floor panels. I was told by the person i got the car from that it's possible and better. Or if some one can show me pictures of when they first started with this car, it would be GREAT.....THANKS.... I Just don't know where to start with this car.....Help     :D

Welcome aboard ginafrank. There is a great deal of knowlege on this forum and it comes from all over the place too. I am sure you'll pick up some tips and ideas as you spend more and more time here. However from what I have gathered, this is not a help line. People help out because they like you and want to help, but not because they have to. Tell us a bit more about yourself and what you are shooting for in terms of your '51 mercury.

    Hi and welcome.
Your about to start one of the most joyfull or fustrating expieriences of your near future. What will make the difference is how you start. It's almost like trying to get across the English Channel and you dont know how to swim. Make a good detailed ***essment of the cars current condition , the expenses and time involved in building it to the level of your desired expectations. What equipment and or training will you need to complete the project. What do you have a pro complete and what can you do yourself. Take the time to go over these things and the expierience will be fun and enjoyable.

You can cross the channel several ways. You just need to think about how you want to do it.

    Best regards

Dont start taking apart and cutting out things until you do a thorough inspection of the body , the ch***is, body mounts crossmembers and the fit of the doors and other exterior panels . Get the replacement pieces needed in your possession before starting.
You may need to fix other things first before replacing the floor pans.
Posting some pics of the Merc will be helpful, as well as giving some idea of what your automotive skills and knowledge are, will go along way in getting the info you need.

Well at this moment i was thinking of replacing the rocker panels. They are rusted trough and need to get replaced....I actully want to make them. But i am ***uming that i need to get the old ones out and measure and copy them. But i can't just clip them of. I was told that i need to take out the front fenders to take off the acutal rocker panel... But i tried taking off the fender last nite and it wont come off . i took out what looked like all the nuts and bolts...but it's still stuck on there... i haven't really done much to it. this is the first thing i've done. i'll try to get some pix up when i learn how to upload them... :) thank for the help.
