Recently lucked upon a 51 Chevy 3100, appears to be all original, 216, 3 on the tree, shortbed 3 window, and I am the second owner. Only thing missing is the wood bed and rails. After pulling out the plywood from the bed, looks like some angle iron was added to the frame on both sides and something doesn't look quite right in the bed up front, will post pictures later. Great thing is very solid, little to no rust, and everything seems to be all there. Truck has been sitting for the last 6 years, per the seller, and was last inspected in 03. Now about me, Ford Mustang guy, with not a lot of Chevy experience and no truck experience. Plan, pull the plugs, fog the cylinders, let sit, refog, turn over by hand. Check and clean points. Radiator appears dry, fill with water, ck for leaks, check for water in oil via dipstick. If engine turns over by hand and no water issues, change oil filter and oil. Drain gas tank, clean gl*** fuel bowls, add gas, check for fuel leaks. Spray down carb with cleaner. Missing anything? Any suggestions?
Welcome. And congrats on that truck. Good score and hope all goes well. And I don't think anyone added angle iron that is how the beds are on these things that how the wood stay in place from one side to the other as there are strips of metal that hold down each plank of wood strip. The (angle iron) is to act like the metal strips Sent from my Z981 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
