Here's one installed. I'll get a picture in the morning of them on and in. Look great. They are LED too so they are bright.

Now first of all, why is any one hating on that truck? Its patina'd yeah, but in a classy way. So don't worry about any one hating on that truck. On to the car: I dig it. Nice. I have just started on my own 1949 Fleetline and I have to say that looking at your car, since mine is rough but original, I can appreciate the subtle customization done here. The hood is cool and the lines are clean. I'm not so sure about the holes but to each his own. The dash on yours has given me a few ideas on how to repair mine. Great find. I enjoyed looking at the pics!

  13. Great move, I did like the truck also. If they looked like hard niiples I'd say leave them, lol, but since they don't, I have to go along with the rest of the guys. I liked the "befores" better. Also, not that it matters, it's your car, but I'd leave the stance just as it is and not lower the back some more...it's perfect.
After 10 years, my car's about one paycheck and one month from hitting the road...maybe we'll meet at a D/FW show some day.

Hi. On the question on the 2 studs for the valve cover, the only 235 cast alum covers for quite some time are the 2 stud style. The studs for the 216 can be added to the 235. The one on this engine looks like the WAYNE cover which was a really nice one. Today if you want to buy a new aluminum cover for a 235 you must use a 2 stud version as nobody is making the 4 hole version anymore. My avatar shows my 235 with one of the cheapo modern chrome steel & is the 4 hole. I hate it but will use it until I can find a good used aluminum one with the 4 holes as for personal reasons I just do not want the 2 stud model although there is nothing wrong with them.
Your Fleetline is awesome but I prefer the before version of the taillights.

I have a question for you. How well do you see out of those 2 door top side mirror's. I have one clamped around forward edge on drivers door but need one on passenger door & I may have to buy a matching pair so they end up the same.

I have had a thread get about 250 comments in about an hour all hating on the truck and they ended up closing my thread. Ive had about 5 threads closed because of my truck being what alot called a RatRod. i didn't see it as one.

  20. Oh, I'll make it to DFW...at least a few times a year. The question is how soon my avatar project will make it there, lol.
Small world...your construction project is just about 2 miles from my house/car (avatar). I live just 2 blocks off 6th st in the old rt66 district. I don't suppose your driving that Chevy up here?

That's a shame. I have never seen a hard'n fast rule on the definition of a rat rod. If it is unsafe, random garbage held together with gum, duct tape, and prayers, then I call it a rat rod, I suppose (and some of the more well done ones I appreciate if they are safe). But never a "patina'd" (I hate that word for some reason) cool old truck that appears well done.

I was tempted to drive it to Amarillo the last time I went out there. It is a 5.5 hrs drive. I know it can make it. But then I forgot I had to bring back 2000lbs of stone to dallas so I took the truck

The car was a needed change for you. Using tiedowns to belt two children in the bed of the truck is frowned upon by the authorities. It would be nice to have both rides. I grew up in the Era of no seatbelts at all. I survived with a few scars. I suggest you hold off on the top chop for a while. Drive it.
