IN THE THREAD ABOUT MY NEW 50 FORD I SAID I'VE BEEN MOSTLY WORKING ON MY 49. GOING OVER IT OVER A MOTH AGO I SAW THE TIMING COVER WAS CRACKED, SO I STARTED DIS***EMBLING IT. OF COURSE WHEN I GOT IT OFF I DISCOVER THE TIMING CHAIN WAS SLOPPY. I FINALLY GOT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER LAST SAT. SINCE I NEED A COUPLE MORE PARTS I DECIDED TO CHURCH UP THE VALVE COVERS. STRIPPED, SANDED, AND POLISHED. I DIDNT WANT THEM TO BE PERFECT. JUST AGED BUT HONEST.. HOPEFULLY HAVE IT ALL BACK TOGETHER THIS WEEKEND.
A few weeks ago I was searching this site for a hood question. I found a thread talking about the shoeboxes had troubleling hood release cables and if they failed it was super tough to access it from underneath. It bothered me since I read it. Friday it came to me and sat I searched for parts and sun(this afternoon) I did it. I modified and mounted a bicycle brake lever behind the grille. Than ran the cable & housing up to the hood release. After a little m***aging it works fine. I don't have to pull the primary from under the dash now. Just reach between the grille. I'm sure this has been done before. I just thought I'd share
