hi guys, i am interested in getting myself a 50's panel van or something similar in gmc or dodge, however i am in ireland and obviously getting something over here in that category is very difficult if impossible, i had thought of scouring ebay in the states for something although knowing what you are bidding on can be a gamble. i want something very solid and running, yet with that rat rod look. how difficult is it to lower a panel van, and how difficult is it to work on v8, anyone in ireland who works on them? this is something i have always wanted to do and would appreciate any comments or help that would encourage or discourage me from doin this, cheers
Welcome aboard from one new guy to another. Just cusious, once you acquire something that you want, how hard is it going to be for you just to get parts for a GMC or Dodge over there? I would think the difficulty and price would be real bad, especially on an older truck. Good luck on your search. Once you get it, you will definitely stand out in the crowd. Tony
hi tony, cheers for the welcome, yeah that was another major issue i forgot to mention in my intro, parts will be a big prob, i know there are more and more places in the uk specialising in old american trucks etc, but prices will be huge....research is the key for my dream!!!! have you ever bought anything on ebay without having first seen it????? it just seems so risky
Yes, I have bought maybe 10 items and sold about that many. I received all the items and they were pretty much as described. One thing I noticed is that the cheaper the price the better the item. Go figure! Ebay is like gambling, don't bid unless you can afford to NOT receive it. Try buying a small item first, get the item, and your confidence in the system will go up. Tony
