Playing around with speaker locations.

 

Decided on tire size, wheel diameter and backspace. Pics are with suspension at ride height.

Tire is a Pirelli scorpion 255/50r20 wheels are Detroit steel D-Town Smoothie powdercoated gloss black with baby moon center caps. 20"x 8", 4.5" backspace. Going with the same size front and back so I can easily rotate them. Here are a couple of cars with the wheels.

You've got a lot of magic to do, to make the rest of the truck look as good as the gas cap!

 

It has a way to go but it’s better than starting from scratch. It does look worse than it is also.

Gaps are making progress. They are better than they came from ford. Especially the hood.

Working on the window frame. The glass will be glued in like a modern windshield. Also started mocking up the dash and gauge cluster.

some nice work... Was the grille widened to fit the opening?

 

Just welding on the sides but across the top he welded in a 1/2” piece of steel

 

Windshield frame is making progress. There is also nutserts in the frame to mount the dash which will also double as a large speaker grill.

I like where the dash design is going, can’t wait to see more

 

Decided to move the gauge cluster to the center to help with the speaker performance. Using a 32 ford style from Dakota digital. They customized it by changing the font, color and style.

Now I really like the dash, very cool and unique

 

Thanks. The dash will be wrapped in an acoustically transparent black fabric and will pretty much look like a normal dash to someone who doesn't know what the dash is supposed to look like in this truck.

 

Lookin cool! I REALLY like that fancy overhead HVAC control piece.. Was the bezel curve the same as the header panel?

I placed a transplanted XJ (Jeep) gauge cluster in the center of the dash on a YJ. It worked well, but I was forever looking for the speedo in front of me and then saying "Oh yeah, it's over there...".

 

The curve worked out great. Almost like it was supposed to go there.

Test fit.

 

Epoxy and first coat of high build primer. Still some banging around to do but progress is being made. Chassis went out to powder coat yesterday.

He is killing it. Very pleased with the progress.
