Hi guys, Im new to the group, but have scoured the hamb for years now. I have a 1952 Customline that has been alot of fun to work on. I just put Jamco suspension all the way around and decided to go with a full bag setup (4-link and M-II, disc conversion as well) I can't wait. Flatty with a newer rebuild, Isky cam, MSD box, Red's headers, 3x2 strombergs, Offy intake, new hi flow water pumps, and it runs great! Interior is original and there are a few small tears in the seats, but everything is pretty clean. I just got some 56 Olds tail lights, and they dont screw on quite right, any tricks? The holes seem just a little off. Anyhow, glad to be here! [/IMG]
Man, that is really nice! Unlike most, you've stopped just in time. You're car's got everything it needs and not one unnecessary thing to "bling" it up. No squished top, no flames, no scallops, no over-the-top striping, no fuzzy dice, no fake fur, no skulls or spider webs. Very tasteful. So many of the cars being built today are so today. By trying to emulate the past the owners completely miss the point of the past. Hard core car guys didn't junk their cars up with doodads. They smoothed 'em off, dropped 'em down and made 'em halfway fast. Period. It was the wanna be's that dressed their cars up with bolt-on junk from J.C. Whitney and flashy paint jobs. Flash was a dead giveaway that they guy was a poseur, not the real thing. You've hit the nail on the head with your '52. It's the real thing. I'm not generally a fan of flat paint, but yours looks great - especially with fresh chrome. Two thumbs up from this old guy! Nice work!
well done! very time period correct, missydad1 said it right. youve got a real nice ride. How did everything bolt up underneath? any difficulties!
vein, I had zero problems with the Jamco install. The only problem is my bumpstops are super close to bottoming out, and the ride isn't the same as it was. (To be expected of course) Other than that, the install was honestly a breeze.
That is one good looking ride! It looks like a really good job on restoring the chrome, you might want to p*** along the name of the shop as I have seen quite a few posts looking for a good shop.
Jeff, I live in San Diego and have a very good chrome hookup in Mexico. If anyone needs stuff done, I can hook it up. Great guy, great job, and inexpensive.
One really sweet ride, everyone else has said pretty much everything.I think the olds taillights will set it of. Please keep us posted on the taillight ***embly, i would also like to know if there any tricks or even anyone out there selling a kit?.
Installed the Olds lights and it went fairly easily. Just used self tapping style stainless screws and used the existing holes. Also, I dropped her off at the Suspension shop yesterday. Next time I see it, we will be laying frame on a full air ride system, 12" slotted and vented discs, MII front and a 4link in the rear. I went with the top of the line parts and am looking forward to an awesome ride. I will be pulling my Jamco setup that has literally 20-30 miles on it, so I'll post it here. (Shocks, coils, leafs, shackles) I'm looking forward to it!
You probably beat me out on ebay for a set of those tail lights! So they don't line up? I still hafta have 'em, they look boss.
