image.jpg image.jpg Hi, my name is Joe. New to the forum and introducing myself. I currently own a 1951 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup and have just bought a 1953 Chevy 2 door. I hope to do some custom work to the Chevy and have my first traditional custom. I plan on making the 51 dodge into a traditional style shop truck with some sign writing etc. I have been attending traditional hot rod /drag racing events for a long time and a, working my way towards my dream car, a Model A roadster pickup with flathead V8, triple Strombergs, lakes pipes etc.

    Welcome Joe.

  9. Welcome,Joe. Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup and Ozelle the '55 Ford send friendly horn honks. Both of your projects look pretty solid. Never owned one but always liked the Pilot House Dodge pickups. '38 Ford was the first truck of any make to have a front-opening hood, the Pilot House Dodges were the last pickups made with a side opening hood, '53 Chevy with manual transmission was the last to have babbit bearings. '53s with Powerglide and all '54 and later had insert bearings. I'm guessing your Dodge has the flathead 6, not many got V8s. There is an early '50s Pilot House Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck in a junkyard not far from my house that has a Red Ram hemi in it.
