Mark here, new to the group. We have a '54 2 door club coupe. It's a project but currently set up with a 302/C4. The frame has been modified for late model saginaw p/s. I'm going to replace the 302 /C4 combo with a 351W/AOD. Just picked up a front disc brake and spindle kit from another member in the '54 Ford Club. Also got the rear springs. All of these parts were new. The car is pretty complete except for the grill, which is missing. Seems to be alot of good info here. I will need it to put this car back on the road. Thanks for listening.
Flyboy, from one retired FF to another, with a 54 also (Vicky) welcome! We will need to compare each others stories from the engine house.
Mark , Welcome aboard to the best group on the H.A.M.B. ! Sounds like you have a really nice set up already . Now , Where are the Pictures ? Jim
Thanks to all on the Welcom Wagon! As far as pictures, I have to resize them and figure out how to post. Since I've been retired, there seems to be less time to get everything done and less time to spend on the computer. I'll work on it.
You can also out all the pictures on Photo Bucket and use a link . That's what I do when I have a lot of pictures to post from like car shows and things like that . Jim
If anyone is interested, you can view pic's in my profile under albums. Haven't figured out how to get them on the thread. Mark
Mark , the body looks pretty solid ! I see all the side trim is there and has the bumpers . Doesn't look to bad at all . That's a good start to build from . A decent body always helps ! If you rewire your car , go and talk with Glenn33 right here on the HAMB main board . He has a Rebal wiring harness that is AMERICAN MADE ! I have seen them in person and they are super nice , good quality wiring harness and the prices are great ! Jim
Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments and help. As far as the body on the car, there is some rust. The door sills are pretty much useless. Other rust is at the left rear wheel well. I do have patch panels for the well but I need them for the sills. I may try making them but they have a radius. Time wise it may be better to buy them. Mac's has them available. There is some rust on the door panels also, so those will need to be A repaired. A little more background on the car: I bought it from a guy in Riverside,Ca who had it since 1971. A few years ago he had it at a hot rod shop having power steering, dropped spindles, disc brakes installed. It also has a Maverick rear axle with 3.00:1 ratio. The car was stolen and missing for awhile. It was recovered but all the mods were stolen off the car. The owner got disillusioned and offered it for sale. I paid $1,000.00 for it with about $600.00 worth of new trim parts. Anyway, thats my story. I'm trying to find the time to do more work on it. Currently building a cradle to set the body on so I can get it off the frame. When I get it built I will post pictures of the cradle and how I put it together. Mark
Welcome aboard. Please post a few pictures of the saginaw power steering install in your '54 if you could. Good luck on your build.
Worked on the cradle alot today. Had to make a couple of modifications but it worked out ok. Almost completed with the fab and mock-up. I have been taking pic's as we go along. When I get it completed I will edit the pic's and put them in order. Also will put a materials list together. Thanks for the interest. Mark
The vin plate should be on the drivers side front door jamb just below the top hinge. All the info about your '54 will be on it. You can send the info to Lovefords.com and they will decipher it for you for free.
