Hi all, Found you by clicking on the link on the NZV8 Magazine forum, that led to Kirk's thread on AmeriCARna, held here in New Plymouth. As Noddy (Beach Hop) said in his post - he came up with the concept for AmeriCARna, and I was then drafted in last year as event co-ordinator. Had a blast!! Wasn't on board for it this year though, strictly an entrant! I've been brought up in hot rodding and drag racing circles, my Dad was the starter at Champion Dragway, Auckland, NZ (and at other various tracks around the country) from 1979 to a coupla years back. My partner and I now campaign a '27 T Roadster in the Compe***ion Eliminator division, and won the NZDRA National Points series for the last two years, set ET and MPH records, and won last years NZDRA Century Batteries Nationals. This year we've taken a season off to regroup - (ok, ok, house extensions and babies - something else has got to give!!) but I'm still actively involved in NZDRA - am Zone 2 Drivers Representative on the Board of Management. If anyone needs a place to stay in good old New Plymouth, Taranaki for next years AmeriCARna - just drop me a line!
Good to see you discovered the HAMB Trace! You'll get a kick out of this place - I like the no BS environment. I've known Trace for many years - first as a pit runner at Champion Dragway when I crewed for the Martin & Rea flathead dragster. She had that cl*** totally organised and we all knew exactly what was going on and when we were due to race. Trace, you didn't mention your Falcon XP sedan - what's happening with that? Are you still gonna chuck a V8 in it? I hope so.... even if it is a mint family owned car - wasn't it your Auntie's? Losing you was AmeriCARna's loss - I'd have you on our team in the blink of an eye - when are you moving to Whanga? Noddy
