How are ya'll doing. I guess I have gotten lucky so far. Nobody has really jumped my tail yet for not doing a proper intro. So here it is.

My name is Kevin. Born and raised in San Antonio, TX. Bought my first ride when I was 22, 28 now. A '46 Chevy truck. Started to rod it out when a tree fell on it (every one who knows me knows I have some strange luck with cars) ended up selling it for parts. About a year later I bought a '56 Olds 88 2-dr hard top in Carrolton, TX and drove her home. Only took 3 tanks of gas from the Big D to SA. Since then I have lowered the front 4"(heated coils) 2" in the rear. It has Lincoln Zephyr pushbutton door handles (my favorite thing that I added to the car). I shaved some of the trim off (the 88's on the front fenders and the saturn on the trunk). Still has the 324. I added an Edelbrock OL-396 intake manifold with 3 Stromberg 97s, and Offy valve covers. Paint is rattle can flat black and the flames are done with Lowe's exterior paint. Thanks to Chuclkehead-Al for the help with taping everything off. I have been debating on changing out the interior, but she still has the original and it is still in decent shape.

A buddy at work just gave me a '36 Chevy 2-door humpback (he has 3). I take her home from his shop at the end of the month. I started gathering parts already. Hope to have her on the road by the end of the summer.

I always liked the reversed colored flames on the roof thing. Almost looks like you could have peeled the flames off the front and laid them on the roof. Used to do that on models when I was a kid. Don't often see that in 1 to 1 scale. [IMG]

I thought the hills were steep in Montana, sheesh.

What the hell?
Screw that. I think it looks really good. Flat black rules! You done good with them flames and that car looks better NOW.

Gawdamm man every time Sam opens his mouth its putting down flat black and "rat rods". Yet his stuff LOOKS like what he's putting down (although very well put together).

SAM, brutha, we all know you got talent dripping off your****. You definitely have more talent than me! But come on.....Your acting like you got the market cornered on the "right" way to do stuff.

Welcome to the HAMB Hellbilly Buzzard. Stick around. This is a great place.
And listen to Samiyam (sometimes [IMG]) He's a talented mofo... [IMG]

What is the deal with all the flat-black haters?

You all act like once a car goes flat black, it won't go back.

Suppose a guy wants to run around in primer while the car "shakes" down.

What are the options out there for a nice, solid, cheap, easy coat of color?

Get over it.

Flat black is here to stay.

i think sam was just coming from the angle of it looking like a nice shiney car already so why flat over it? it was prolly worse then the pic indicated so i supose after you shaved stuff off and it got spoted withprimer why not just cover it all.

but anyways welcome [IMG]

Looks to me that the paint wasn't too bad for a start. I like the original scheme. The new paint clashes with the interior.

Sorry, I agree with Sam.........but then I probably woulda painted it anyway, just not like that.

Welcome anyways. [IMG] Different strokes....

I just can't keep my mouth shut on this one. [IMG]
That car looked like she was a nice driver and the first thing you do is heat the springs and rattle can it flat black ? I just dont understand [IMG] Primer to me is just a stage in building a ride not a statement. Your car and your life . Just my 2 cents.

If someone doesn't do an intro, everyone jumps on them with the "if you walked into my garage without introducing yourself...."*********. Some of you humps should apply that same rule to yourselves when someone DOES introduce themselves. If I pulled up to YOUR garage in that car and introduced myself and YOU started telling me what you don't like about my car, I'd probably kick you in the nuts.

Would I go that route with the paint? It doesn't matter. It's not an import, a mini truck, a VW, or anything else that you guys get your**** on your neck about. It's an old car. It's a custom. If you wanted to keep that car baby blue and white, you should have bought it.

Welcome aboard. [IMG]

28. Fo one... I don't diss da black primas in da hizzouse... eyes juss don'ts undastands whys homies would wants'ta paints something that has a perfectly goods paint job on it... of all things... FLATS BLACK.

Axelly, I do. I understands fully... these peeps wants'ta paint they'r ryde the LATEST color to be IN... FLATS BLACK. I busted his bizzalls 'cause he took a perfectly good car-n-shit... one that just needs'ta da chrome dubs, wide whites... and a little low'win... and he joined the flock of sheep with all the other prime'd black rydes.

I know I gots a car that is flats black... it's like an old roadster... something yous see racin's out here at the O-town speedway back in '55... if I had the money to buy bondo and paint... the muthuhfukka would be maROON!!

RAT RODS- Yea, I diss rat rods... to me... a rat rod is a*****tily built pile of shiznit. Battery not bolted down-n-shit... rust all up in the place... welds thats look like my girl Laquisha's boogers... scrapein'-da-ground... with a mudduhfukkin' grille shell all up higher than the cowl-n-shit... thass a RAT ROD... and it's getting all old an'shit.

I thank ya'll for all the love. Fun to get love, fun to get a rise out of people. The paint was not in all that great of shape when I bought her. Chalk it up to good photography. Only if I could have fibbed the color of my yard. The trunk was not the same color as the rest of the car, the most obvious thing. I had to replace the passenger rocker panel, there was a crease in the passenger door skin. I had to pull a couple of dents in the passenger front fender. Chips all over the paint. If someone wants to donate a couple of gallons of House of Kolor pearl white and House of Kolor aqua I will be more than happy to accept it.

As for the interior. It clashes really bad.

First of all, welcome to the HAMB, Kevin. Good lookin' ride height on that car. You'll make a good addition to the board and it's always nice to have another Texan. OK, I'm done kissin' up in order to bug you with my constant Olds questions I've been askin' everyone lately. [IMG]

Second, Lowes called and they want their*****in' paint back. Woof. LOL

Just kiddin' man, whatever you do to your ride is up to you,
