Hello everyone. I'm from Rome NY. I was refered over here from the JJ by Tman. I've been here before but a few years ago. I've had cars in the past nothing right now, got a couple bikes. Got my own Triumph land speed bike build going on right now (probably for the rest of my life, LMAO). Worked for a couple rod shops and have my own metal shaping shop, but just got a real job and put the shop to part time to try to have more fun/less stress. Check out my web site if you wanna look at pics in raw metal, midnightoilworks.com,but I'm really here just to feed off the four wheeled rods and customs again. Now I'm off to surf the threads. Mark.
Howdy Oilburner. I'm an FNG myself. I also happen to have been born in Rome when my dad was stationed at Griffiss. We've still got some friends over in Floyd. I grew up in NC when my dad got stationed down there and then retired. I went back and lived in Syracuse for 5 years after I finished school. We used to go over to the Utica Rome speedway every once in a while (as well as Turning Stone). Robb
Welcome back. I ran Utica/Rome on their dragstrip back in the 70's. Man that was crazy trying to shut down , going off the end into the tall grass. Is the track still there?
It's just a dirt track now, but I've been told that if you go look off the back of the track you can still see some of/or where the drag strip was. I meet a lot of people who where stationed at Griffis. Like most every town that had a base, boy did Rome go down the tubes when Griffis closed.
What's up Jeremy. I'm in the process (as week speak literaly) of moving everything back home. Got a real job and gonna do the shop thing on the side. Crammin all that stuff into one stall. Can you say "10lbs of shit in a 5lb sack". LOL.
Congrat's on the new job Mark, I know you were really excited about it last time we talked and I hope it all goes well for you.
