I was referred here by some fellow car guys I work with, and from what I've seen, this is my kind of people. Although I build new junk ( i.e imports ), I am a far cry from the typical "kid" on the street today. I build and race ( autocross, roadrace, open-road rallye ) only what makes the car bite...

I typically build Hondas for customers who want SPEED and not aesthetics, and I refuse to add non-functioning parts to a car. I am sure alot of dudes frown on what I do because its new, but I respect the oldies who wrench on buckets, sleds, and old sedans, and I can hang in any conversation about lakes pipes, and any of that jazz.

Here's my last VW Golf GTi I just sold...
    535 horsies / 612 lbft twist @ the wheels ( 24 psi turbocharged 2.8L V6 )

    Are you serious???

500 horse out of less than 3litres is cool...but have a look around the site. We are pretty rabid about traditional rods and kustons. Some guys get pretty torqued about slug bugs.

Hang out if you like. There is lots of good info and tech...Just remember, posting VWs might get a bag full of turds set on fire on your porch......

ahh yes, and this may be the only time I post pictures of any imports, but I am into cleanly styled T's and A's and some of the "rat" rod stuff only cause most of my projects are less appearance and more grunt.

and yes, I am serious about the power... lemme find the dyno plot, and I am into anything unconventional as far as power/rods/overall car and engine combo. I have an idea that may just have all guns aimed at me for such sacrilege, but I can hold my own and build just about anything I want.

its alright, not everyone can have a cookie-cutter, and I never intend to in any shape or form. I figured I'd jump on in and meet some people who were into cars JUST as much as I.

Smaller the powerplant, bigger the grin on the victor.

thanks, and PLEASE dont call it a Jetta ( Golf or GTi, Jettas have trunks )... Its like calling a Mercury a Chevrolet in my book. And for all the naysayers, its cool cause one time in your lives people thought you were the black sheep for modding something. I would rather take the odd and unique and make as many ponies as physically possible.

Welcome to the H.A.M.B. from the heir apparent to the king of useless custom trivia. It doesnt seem like there is any shortage of automotive talent.Ill bet your building a hot rod before long.

I've been building "hot rods" for quite some time now, just not the stereotypical muscle or cruisers that most here have grown accustomed to. Like I've been saying... I am not trying to get anyone interested in what I do, we share a common interest in the technology and modification of automobiles no matter how obscure. Everyone has a niche, and mine is ( for the moment ) modding and customizing cars that provide a living for me.

I was in Knoxville last weekend for the HotRod Nationals South, and I met a ton of people, and saw thousands of bad*** cars, but one thing that was lagging was technology in my opinion, and I think if someone could take the old hotrodding equation and mix it with today's obscura, then you'd have exactly what the "old schoolers" were trying to do back in their days. Horsepower is still horsepower, and running rich is still too much fuel no matter what car(s).

First off I am not a "tuner" nor are my cars. I build roadrace machines that only perform on-track duty and will never see a show. I dont expect any sympathy from you guys because frankly I dont care. I love old cars as well as newer cars, and I believe I even said I wont be posting pictures of my car anymore because of how uptight most of this community is. I am also not here to argue about why my cars are better because in all seriousness, they are not, but in your quest for the automotive holy-grail help me differentiate what is a "traditional hot rod and custom " when our cars are supposed to be an expression of individuality and if my style was like yours, then I might as well have your name too. It's about the p***ion for the car, NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. Get over the fact that the one car I posted is a VW and not the cookie-cutter rod.

    welcome I think, but....

VW DOES = "tuner" and traditional rods/customs with 'new technology' doesn't mix IMO. Try another board like club hot rod. Hope that helps.
