Hello Everyone, I just got started on this site a few days ago. I have a 56 Mainline that I have owned twice now. I bought the car back around 2003 and ended up changing jobs. I had less money and time to fool with it. I traded it for a 65 Ranchero which I still have. I went to Iraq in 05 and my great wife purchased the car again for me while I was gone. ( You got to love a woman like that ) The car had been refinished in mostly original form. It is green and white with gray interior. It has a 272 with an auto trans. The car runs good but I like to drive long trips and on the interstate at times. I plan on a 351w with AOD transplant, airconditioning, power steering and some suspention upgrades. If anyone can help me find the info on the jeep steering box conversion please let me know. Thanks Shadyg
Welcom from So Cal! I'm doing the 351W/Aod also. You can get a rebuilt Jeep/Delphi power box on e-bay. I got mine for $120.00 with the shipping and it was rebuilt with a 90 day warranty. Good Luck with your project.
Welcome! go back thru the last couple of weeks archives here there are pictures of the jeep swap and one member makes the mounting plates, there is also a search function in the upper right.
i have a 351w/AOD combo in my 55 fairlane. there are some mods that had to be done to the car that i could help you with. also i have installed jeep power steering which was'nt too hard as long as you have all the parts needed. i've made some brackets for the steering box for a few members on here but havent had any made recently. keep in touch and feel free to ask away. If Jeffb2 or any of us can't answer your questions then it probably cannot be done
Welcome to the group! Wow, you must have one of the coolest wives around! I was excited that mine (and her family) went to town on a bunch of parts that I needed, but getting your old car back takes the cake! I'm ***uming that when you say you went to Iraq that you're in the Armed Forces (I've known a number of Gas/Oil and other contractors as well), so a sincere 'Thanks' for your service.
Oh yeah, I just noticed that you don't have any pics of your cars in your profile- feel free to post some here. PICS! PICS! WE NEED PICS!
