New tool you can build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dolmetsch, Jan 22, 2010.

  1. Since I have been working on roll bars and tube frames I have been working with a lot more tubing than in my previous "life". Today I made up this tool from some s**** angle iron . It holds tubing of various sizes in its V groove so it does not move around when cutting or drilling or notching. in fact just to see if it worked I had to make a crossmember for my new FED within the tapering main rails. Using the frog and my little drill press I bored the tubing by tiltling the table to the angle requred and just drilled it with a 1 1/4 hole saw. It fit perfect! I call this little tool the Tube Frog. It will make your life easier and it costs almost nothing to make and about 10 minutes of your time. I hope you find it as useful as I do.

  5. I made something similar years ago. I use it all the time. Mine does not have the bolt down feature. I'm going to upgrade!

  6. Mine doesnt either. The holes were already in the s**** angle iron.
