So Rick and I met with the Symco guys...and one gal tonight. They said that use of the river is 100% A-OK and tubing and swimming is is big YES!!!! We will probably use my bus to transport people north a mile or so to float back to the campground. Sat for sure, maybe Friday as well depending on the interest.

Looks like Mini-bike drags are a go long as insurance permits.

We are working on t-shirts and flyers in the next few weeks, watch for lots of updates on this show this month.

I am getting a map of the campgrounds this week and will be finalizing camping and opening up registration very soon.

Without looking in my book I don't remember for sure. Either the Americinn Lodge or Americas Best Value both on Shawano in New London. By the addy I think they are probably across the street from each other. What's the deal on the camping that you wish I was camping?

This sounds like a great time "Up Nordt". Cool place, I like the tavern, bring on the PBR!

When I was growing up in Wisconsin, we used to go a canoe trips out of Ding's Dock in Waupaca, WI near Symco. I did a quick search and they are still in business. It's a fun trip with a few rapids. Something for the family to do while the car show is going on.

This is a family event. The little wolf river that runs through the grounds is the same as the river that Dings Dock brings you to for their little canoe trip. No need to go all the way to Waupaca when you can do the same thing here!!

Great to see you're coming PH. We want you to camp so you spend more money!!!!

Now if you can get Charlie Chops to come, too THAT would be great...

If we have the "Weather Gods" on our side we'll have a nice, warm wekend. Tubing/swimming/wading in the river is going to be pretty popular. Mike's bus will come in handy to allow us to pick-up tube'rs and about 1 1/2 miles down stream. Should be a blast!

Too bad. That you would presume to judge in advance what's (uncool).
Want to feature "Traditional" then do so, but to limit everybody else makes (you) (uncool).

The BEST car shows I go to welcome all comers.

Those that don't, I get the feeling they are afraid of something.

I am sorry if I offended you. Bring your pimped out Honda and and we will let you in. I will let the show participants be the judge.

I guess I will respond with a quote direct from you, "To point out a dick, by being a dick, is not in the best interest of our hobby."

Offended? You couldn't offend me if you tried. I'm above that.

Being a Dick? So why are you being a Dick?

I said "the best car shows are the ones that welcome all comers". That you would presume to judge in advance what's (uncool). Want to feature "Traditional" then do so, but to limit everybody else makes (you) (uncool). The BEST car shows I go to welcome all comers."

Don't have a "pimped out Honda", but respect them. Last I noticed those cars were being driven by people. Is your reference to that a racist comment?

It is maybe 3 or 3 1/2 hours from The twin cities. Google maps shows 247 miles and 4 1/2 hours but that doesn't seem right as I can make it to MN from my house in just over 4 hours and I am 45 minutes further from Symco. It is a super easy drive, Take I94 to WI29, Hwy 45 south to 110 and right to Symco. Good new highway at 65 MPH almost the whole way.
I drive over to 50's every year, you can make it here no sweat!!!

    Newbie.

Billet usually goes hand in hand with a whole lot of other things, examples are tweed sculptured interiors, LED light bulbs, DVD screens, etc...The tweed interiors and the billet pedals, billet dash knobs, billet shift knob, etc (Ever notice how if there's one billet thing on a car there has to be a hundred? It always seems that the billet god pukes all over everything doesn't it?) are all reminiscent of things you would find on a sports compact or late model custom or late model sports car (aka pimped out Honda).
I've helped build (for customers) a few of these cars, and ridden in a few once or twice also...they come off feeling like a new car to me...not new in the sense that 'everything has been redone new' but new in the sense of '2009 Ford Taurus' new. Why in the hell would someone want to make their '47 Ford feel like a 2009 Ford? If you want it to feel like that, why don't you save yourself some trouble and march down to the Ford dealership and buy a 2009 Ford. I want my cars to feel like old cars...that means bias plys, too many carbs, no seat belts, chrome, fast, LOUD, black primer, and attitude! I know it's gonna handle poorly compared to a new car...who cares? If you want it to handle like a new car, once again, march on down to the Ford dealer, I hear they're having deals.

29 nash, your an idiot. Please stay off my thread.

It was a racist comment....what the hell?!? Get a clue. Better yet, we would prefer if you wouldn't come to our show, you seem to just cause problems. I don't think you really respect anything or anybody. You certainly don't respect us.

    Hey Cliffy;
    1. First, in your intro to this thread you said “............... Of course we will limit the amount of billet and uncool stuff............................. “.
    2. I expressed my opinion that “good “ car shows welcome all comers, that I think shows that don’t are afraid of something.
    3. You seemed quite riled up by that, and called me a dick and a pimp and an idiot. I guess I am a pimp if what I want is for a car show/event to welcome all comers!
    4. I returned the name calling, ask you why you were also being a dick. and repeated my plea to welcome all comers.
    6. Subsequent to that, Krooser has cleared it up for me when he posted, "Just to be clear about this... Mike and I have always said we will welcome all cars to the show but not all cars will fit the show criteria. Those that don't fit (musclecars, stockers, imports, etc.) will have their own VIP parking area on the show grounds. They will have the best parking spots available within a few steps of the main show."[/U]

Thank you for that. Could have said that in the first place. Thanks again, Good luck with your show.

    Goodby.

We love all old stuff... but our aim is to keep this a traditional show. No different than an AACA meet that excludes hot rods, a concours that excludes rust, etc. You won't see my '54 Triumph TR2 at the show as it doesn't fit.

If you entered your '29 Nash in a All-Nash event and some guy with an Edsel wanted to get in what would you do? I thought so...

I have been taking a steady stream of registrations. If you want to make sure you get a good camping spot, I would suggest sending in your payment now. At this pace, we will be full down by the river in a few weeks.

    WHAT A SALESMAN!!!!

We DID book a couple of bands this week.... Andy's Automatics and the Honky Tonk Twisters will join fellow Wisconsin band Kevin Fayte and the Fortunes for the weekend.

All these guys play some good rockin' rockabilly and a few originals and a little traditional country, too.

We're also talking with a great Chicago-based surf band that does great Ventures and Dick Dale and the Deltones-style instrumentals... AND a certain psycho-billy/surf/Ramones meet Beelzebub band from Madison has given us a tentative "OK" for Saturday night... if they can make it central Wisconsin will never be the same... you know who they are... keep your fingers crossed!
