I am working on a Posie transverse spring and I want to paint it or have it powder coated. I'm a little worried about the heat it would be exposed to during the powder coating process and having the chance that it might lose some of the temper in the process. I could paint it and grease it beween the leafs. What do you think ?
KoolKat has the best solution, although the curing temp. for powder coating isn't high enough to harm a car spring (200 to 400 degrees F). http://www.thermovation.com/pages/powdercoatovens.html
Powder coating temps wont hurt it, but I usually paint. Regardless of what you do it wont be permanent between the leafs. Springs will always wear the finish off anyway, so that's why I just paint them and grease them.
