Hello from Cali... Been a huge fan of rods for AGES and hoping to get one soon. My dads friend offered me his 26 Durant Star (In pieces). Said it would make a nice rod. Says it needs a front and rear end... and an engine. I played around with VW's (lowering/minimal electrical and body work) but haven't a clue about the needed parts for this Star. I've been told to look into S10 rear ends. After seeing different gear ratio's and such, I'm still very lost. Hoping these forums will point me in a good direction to get this 26 on the road. Would love to hear your thoughts on the 3 items listed above. In the mean time, I'll keep researching. =)
Welcome from another in So Cal. That Star will make a cool rod. My uncle had a 24 Star 4 door sedan that he turned into a sedan delivery. Wish I had pics of it. Good luck with the build and be sure to post pictures.
Howdy from Spokane, Welcome to the H.A.M.B.....Look for a rearend that's close to 56" axle flange to axle flange. I like Ford maverick rears, '70-'74 in 3:00 for street use. Although they are harder to come by than the S-10 rear.
