Hello all, Names Tony and I saved a '36(?) Ford Pickup from being taken to the s****ers this summer. It now resides in the back of my garage and awaits it's turn under the wrench. I am about to graduate with my ***ociates in Mechanical Drafting and Design (CAD) and currently am employed in a machine shop running a CNC WaterJet. I look forward to learning a lot and to eventually get started on the rusty old Ford. Right now I am thinking it would be neat to make it a semi modern-powered tow rig for my other automotive endeavors, though I guess this site kind of frowns upon modernizing these old rods? Anyway, glad I found this place and have already been skimming and learned a lot.
Welcome from SW Nebraska. Nothing wrong with "mordenizing" a pre-WWII Ford pickup. Give everything you do to it a lot of thought. Please, no 20" wheels!! (smiling) Much to learn and share here. Enjoy it all!! Keep us updated with words and photos.
Welcome from up here in Omaha... I actually sell CNC equipment, Mostly lathes & mills but I do also sell Waterjets. What shop or area are you from? and what brand jet??? Got any pics of your truck???
Thanks for the welcome. Trust me, no 20's for this truck. I will say that I do pride myself in building something rather different from anyone else. On that note, one thing the truck will not get is a GM350, LS or one of the Modular Ford 8's. Though a turbo diesel would be pretty trick... To tell the truth, I have been thinking one of the newer, GM inline 'Atlas' motors, but the manual trans options for that block seem rather slim. I do prefer rowing my own gears. I am from/live in Omaha. I work for Bluffs Tool and Machine over in C.B. Iowa. My machine is a Flow Mach 3 with the dynamic head. My Ford tucked in the back of the garage: Tugging it into the garage with one of my current projects, a '88 Suzuki Samurai:
Ha, yea not much of a football fan, sorry. I'll watch with family, but usually find myself wondering off to the garage, xbox or computer. No hard feelings though, everyone has their p***ions, watching others play sports just isn't mine.
