I'm a little late getting started this year, but just a heads up for any folks in the area that want to meet up for a cruise, weather permitting. We've done this for the past half dozen years or more and it's always a great time. Some driv es have been a little chilly, some like last year were beautiful, you just never know but according to the Rose Parade folks the weather is clear and dry on New Years Day more often than not....

Anyway, we'll nail down the details as the date gets near and we see what the weather is doing, and decide if we can take the route up into the local mountains or stay down in the low lands.

Anyone interested you can chime in here, or PM me if you prefer.

it's looking riht now like rain all week, except for New Years Day. They're calling for sun and mid 60's temps. So I expect we'll have some snow in the local mountains, which means we'll probably keep our route down in the low lands.

I’d come, but the wife has planned a NewYear’s Eve party at our house! So I guess I better stick around!

    Hey B4U,
From two weather services here in the So Cal basin. The closer to the mountains, the colder is it and the greater chance of rain/lower temperatures. If there were an 18% chance of rain on the coast, we would get rain of varying degrees. But the mountain areas have a little different scenarios. Sometimes, the system wants to go at the mountains and over to the desert. Then it drops rain on the whole ocean side as it goes over the top.

But, for some odd reason, the system is getting in line to blast the Westcoast, but it might move Eastward faster than predicted. So, the New Year's Day activities look as if it will be spared the rain again for the longest consecutive span in quite some time.

As teens, we used to go to Big Bear Lake/City for the whole rest of the week until New Year's Day. For us, it did not matter if it snowed or not. My 58 Impala got covered by a ton of snow on a couple of different years. You just need to keep adjusting your carbs for a good running motor in higher elevations. Snow? Cold/freezing weather? Knucklehead teens stood around in everything without a care in the world... only to have some fun... HA! Good luck on your road trip... STAY SAFE...and warm..

Well, it's been wet mostly all week, and today has been no exception. Weather.com is calling for increasing rain tonight, peaking around 11 - 12, then clearing up, and it's supposed to be partly cloudy and dry in the morning, so at this time I'm still hoping to get the cruise in tomorrow. Monday is also a holiday for most people, but the weather looks to get worse for Monday, so I'm sticking to tomorrow.

I went out and got the hot rod fired up this afternoon for the first time since the TROG event a couple of weeks ago, it's ready to go. I'll fill up the tank in the morning.

Anyone is welcome to join us (HAMB friendly cars please), we're going to meet up at Penn Park in Whittier at 10 a.m., so you'll have time to sleep in a little before heading out. If it's not raining, we're going.

I had the five seven out last night in the rain and I’ll have it out at the Corner Bakery before the cruz in about 8 hrs.

Just a little when I ventured over to Eagle Rock to get a Tommy’s Chili Burger. Here’s the car when I returned. 4A2C86E6-380B-4696-9B21-A78C12CCB293.jpeg

  10. Did it happen, is there pics?.

Was raining down here on Sat 12/30, cruised around got some cool things at the Barn (antique mall). Passenger side wiper arm decided it wanted to be free, luckily I was able to double back and pick it up.....stupid little clip. Drivers side worked like a champ the rest of the way home. Then on Monday I proceeded to get sick.....ALL week, still sick .

The Rose Parade never happens on a Sunday so the cruz takes it’s place only on that day rather than the usual New Years Eve day.
As for pic’s I didn’t take any other than the rain on the windshield. Beside’s, the turn out was very thin.

No, we didn't gert rained out, but we did get rained on. We got the cruise in with good weather, it was really nice. But we stopped at the end for a late lunch, and when we came out to the cars they were all wet, it had rained while we were inside eating. Then on the way home I ran into a cloud burst and the heaven's opened up on me; luckily I stayed nice and dry inside even without any side windows.

It was a small group of 5 hardy souls, less than half of the size from previous years. Some got sick and weren't up to venturing out in the weather; some stayed up too late and didn't get up early enough to make it; some were out of town; and since it was a Sunday some had commitments at church and couldn't make the run. But the 5 of us had a good time anyway. All 5 are HAMB members. @Johnny Gee wasn't with us, I don't know who he was cruising with...

Here we are lined up at the meeting place, ready to go.

You were missed Jim, next year, eh?

From your post on 31st I thought you were going to show up. Why not join us? It's a group of good dudes, you would've enjoyed the drive, Turnbull Canyon, Hacienda Blvd (ex Hwy 39) and through the hills of La Habra Heights, Carbon Canyon Rd, etc.

Sorry miss read your post. Took it to be who’s all doing the New Years cruz. Carina and I are just 15 minutes from the Corner Bakery so rolling with all of you would have been out of the way. I’m sure all of you are great, again, excuse my New Years Eve interpretation.

Sorry, I'm unaware of Corner Bakery. Is that a cruise meetup point?

Richard, count me in next year. Just unfortunate timing for obligations I had on New Years Day Sunday this year. Glad you still got to cruise.

Looking forward to it Dan! But we need to get together sometime before then as well. We got GNRS and LARS coming up later, maybe I'll see you there.
