Welp. figured that i would join up since i will be either ratting my 39 ford coupe or buying a 1920's Nash that i found on CL. I currently do not have pictures of the '39 since its 110mi away at my in-laws.

If you are planning on r*tting" something and bragging about it on here then you haven't read many posts.

    Good luck...........

It would be a shame to ruin a nice car!

Yeah i have read plenty of posts on here, i know it's traditional rods and customs on here mainly. the 39 has been under hay in the barn on and off for 50yrs so its not the greatest looking thing regardless. and the 24 Nash needs a ton of work and would cost me way more than i want to invest to bring it to the traditional side. So with a budget i have set for myself i cant see a fully restored rod in my future.

If you indeed have read plenty of posts, you should be able to see that in between your plan for a rat rod, and a fully restored rod, there is tons you can do on a budget. Aim higher! A rat rod is a poor excuse for a budget build and vice versa.

Show us what you got, you'll get lots of help building a quality hot rod regardless of budget.

  7. Badshifter's right. It doesn't have to be a P.O.S.

Theres a diff between a rattle canned flat black POS thats gonna fall apart down the road and a decently done traditional rod. Doesnt have to be done with a lot of money...some eye for detail, patience, and a little class will go a long way around here, IMO.

    this is true,

I have the 39 sitting around. Rotting away isn't going to do it any good. I'm not going to be putting a ton of cash that i don't have up for a car that i'll enjoy regardless of how its built. I don't plan on making a damn show car. there will be no billet, nothing will get rechromed, the body will be staying the original brown with the patina and all. the chrome that is there will stay there. it will be getting a 350/350 combo and a ford 9" rear from an early mustang(have sitting under my drag car). and I do like the traditional side of the hot rod kulture but i enjoy the other side oh so much more. So with that said i dont see myself enjoying my stay here since your forum doesn't embrace every aspect of the kulture. so i am signing off this forum.
